Default Body lowering?

I've noticed some comments about lowering the body. What is the optimum height, where is it measured from and how is it done

Thanks

Up to you really. If you don't have any aero you can go all the way down. I scraped my aero so I brought it back up 15 rachets on each

Are we talking stock bolts?

I'm considering removing my stage one front splitter, because I hate it, and lowering.

On my previous Z51 Stingray, I lowered it all the way almost a full inch at all four corners... looks great but can get dicey on speedbumps, inclines, driveways, dips, etc...

So for my Z06, I lowered it a 1/4" so far plus I now have to consider it has a front splitter. A subtle improvement in body height drop but no issues on my driveway or street bumps...

Note: stock bolts on both.

C7 Z06, I presume you lowered the stingray on aftermarket lowering bolts like the WCC ones and the Z06 on the stock bolts?

Thanks

Nope, both my previous Stingray and current Z06 were lowered on stock bolts... the Stingray was maxed (lowered) on stock bolts hence why it sits lower. Here's another perspective... my last pic before swapping it for the Z.

Do you happen to know if the bolts are different on the Z51 to the Z06? All I keep reading is that Z06 rear will only go down half an inch max from stock. I want to go down an inch all around and I bought the WCC lowering bolts, but I'd obviously be a lot easier if I can use the stock ones.

I have lowered all of my C6s over the years, It only takes about 5 to 10 min to do this. Some came from the factory higher than others, So I would get anywhere from about 1/2" to 1" depending on the starting point. I will also lower the max on my new Z when I get it, Also does the new Z have the rubber bushings that can be cut or removed? If so You could cut the bushing in half or even more, or completely remove it to lower even more. Myself I have cut about 3/4 of the bushing on the C6 which lowered the car even more.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a lowering motor that came stock with the car and you could lower and raise with a push of a button?!

Just the front end. Not the entire car. $3200 option.

Out of curiosity, is there a quality aftermarket air ride available for these vehicles ... one that is compatible with the oem suspension?

(sorry if this is a stupid question, my lowering expertise is limited to trucks)

There was a forum member who had a custom made set on the front of his C6 Z. He has a thread on it...it was an interesting set up.

I would be all over an air system that raised the front an inch and a half at the push of a button. Are you listening after market vendors?

You & me both. I think Florida has the market cornered on speed bumps.
I have several near me that have planks in the middle. Looks like you're crossing a bridge. Publick road too. I'd like to get some C4 and blow the things to hell.

I'm not sure but you make a good point... the rear bolts on my Z06 are turned out (counter clockwise) considerably and it only lowered mine 1/4"

Want to lower my C6 which has the rear end much higher than the front. So I'm thinking 1/2 " on the front, 3/4" on the rear

My vert has active suspension; will that matter

Do you have any instructions?

I did a search but only could find a c7 post on lowering on stock bolts.

I added z51 sway bars but that didn't seemed to help much in spirited cornering; have good tires.

Thank you

Guys...When you lower the car all the way around on stock bolts it lowers the car 1 inch correct?

Lastly...Is it absolutely necessary that you get an alignment? What do the dealers typically charge to lower the car?

There was no set height from the factory, therefore lowering distance will be random.

I beleive you get 1 free alignment.
