Corvette Forum Exclusive: Tadge Juechter Talks Z06 Development, Losing a Street Race
No one can provide more Corvette Z06 insight than Tadge Juechter. The car's Chief Engineer has spent years developing the C7 Z06. After having a chance to get a more personal take of the new Z06’s capabilities on the track, I sat down with Juechter to learn more about the car and to address some concerns raised here on Corvette Forum about the higher-performance track variant of the C7.

With any job dealing with a product such as this, you have to keep cards close to the chest, do you not agree?

I mean...in fairness, you have to trickle out your product to keep sales stimulated. It really wouldn't be wise for Apple to say, don't buy this one guys because we're going to come out with a better one next year that's way faster...and cheaper!

Personally, I think people need to recognize that you don't see connections between engineering and consumers like you see with Corvette. I spent years building Honda's...and I've never seen the FIRST Honda engineer at ANY event. Nissan is starting to get a clue by taking some special stuff to ZdayZ. Corvette though...I've talked to probably 10 engineers that worked on this car. I've met every chief engineer of the Corvette shy of Zora. I see Harlan and the guy recognizes me.
Given the fact we have such close access, it affords us A LOT more scrutiny. My fear is, if the scrutiny continues, that'll change over time. I think we've seen it already has. There was a time when going to the Corvette Museum felt like some special access. Now, it's like they know these boys are gonna hit the internet and run their mouth, so Tadge has to act like a politician.
It's a give and take situation and people like Tadge have to walk a fine line. That's the end of the story.

Reminds of when I went to Vettes on the Rockies years ago. I parked my car and was walking to the show along side another guy. We struck up a conversation as we walked, talking vettes of course. We eventually introduced ourselves and the guy was Dave Hill. Needless to say I was somewhat shocked. But then not really. As Tadge points out they stay close to their customers!
Back to this interview...........some really vague reference to "hot days" but no specifics on any high oil temp issues in warm or hot track weather................a miss IMO.

Call Tadge a "Liar" is totally disrespectful to him and many of us here that have met the man. He has done nothing but his best under the inherent GM corporate and legal restrictions to provide information and answers to our questions. This article is an excellent example of his dedication.
You should be ashamed, but you are likely to arrogant to know how ignorant you sound.
