Any idea if we can mix some E85 safely in the tank to boost octane levels? In California, we can only get 91 octane. I wonder if the car is tuned in stock form for 93? or 91? or 96?
From page 9-53 in user manual,
"If equipped with the LT4 supercharged engine, use premium unleaded gasoline meeting ASTM specification D4814 with a posted octane rating of 91 or higher. If the octane is less than 91, damage to the engine may occur and may void the vehicle warranty. If heavy knocking is heard when using gasoline rated at 91 octane or higher, the engine needs service."
On the same page is the following:
"E85 (85% ethanol) and other fuels containing more than 15% ethanol must be used only in FlexFuel vehicles."
I don't believe a Z06 qualifies as a FlexFuel vehicle.
Thanks. Porsche and Ferraris are usually actually tuned for 93 or above, so I usually mix those tanks to get to 93 or above and can actually feel a difference. Sounds like the Z06 is tuned for 91, so any higher would do no benefit. I mixed in about 6 gallons of 100 octane 76 gas and actually was surprised that I felt no difference. I guess I will save my money from now on for this car.
