Default Buying Experience

I'd like to hear everyone's buying experience. Was the dealership/salesmen very informative during the whole building shipping process or did you feel like you were Tom Hanks in Cast Away? How often did you call them about your car & how often did they respond? Thanks!!

I live in FL and knew exactly what I wanted in a Z06 order. I emailed one salesman at a well known dealership and no response for 5 days. In the meantime, I emailed another top salesman at another well known dealer and got a quick response. He gave me a deadline to respond for an order date. I called him immediately with couple of questions, no calls back. I faxed my order sheet with credit card info without talking to the salesman.

The deadline passed and he finally called, the deadline had been extended 24 hours. He told me how busy he was selling Corvettes and made me feel as he was doing me a favor taking my ordering for a $100k car. However, GM did accept my order and I did got a 3000 status, TPW end of Feb(found that out through Chevy Chat, not the dealership) The salesman promised he would followup with weekly updates. None arrived....... unless I sent email him requesting same. I am doing a museum delivery and live 600 miles from the dealership and will never take the car there, nor will I require their assistance in financing, since it is a cash deal.

Needless to say, if I get the opportunity to write a followup on my experience, it will not be good. It is incredible to me that a buyer walks in a dealership, "via email" and not drinking their coffee, knowing exactly what they want, with cash in hand to buy one of the most expensive car in the GM's portfolio and cannot get a courteous call before they run your credit card.

Cast Away and Cast Aside, bad taste to date! Thanks for the opportunity to vent.

you could help others avoid the same fate if you disclosed the name of the dealership

I have never used Chevy Chat. I'm in FL and have a car at status 3300 from a national dealer many states away. What info do I need from the dealer in order to get updates via Chevy Chat? Do you need an order number or something similar?

My salesman is excellent and has been with the dealership 30 years. He is also smart enough to know he can not keep on top of every client all of the time so he introduced me to the Inventory Manager of the dealership after our first meeting. This is the person who orders every vehicle at the dealership. When I first put my order in last August 28 I sat next to the Inventory Manager and we looked at every item together on his screen to make sure it was right and we checked it again after he printed out the GM Workbench order. I spent 2 hours with him. Now, every time there is an update, he calls me and prints out the new updated GM Workbench order. I think that I am one of their few clients who is allowed to call the Inventor Manager or walk into his office any time he is there and he always gives me the time I need to get my questions answered. He keeps my salesman up to date on the order status. Also, this dealership has one of the top Corvette mechanics on the West Coast (been at this dealer 35 years) and he serviced my previous 63 SWC and my 94 Z-28 Camaro. I was brought back to meet him again by my salesman who assured me that he would be the only one doing the dealer prep and servicing of my A8 coupe. I would say that customer service is number one at this dealer.

Agreed. Joe Machacek at Classic Chevrolet in Houston, TX is excellent. Always accessible by phone or email. My C7 Z06 order with museum delivery went smoothly from day one. He is straight up and trustworthy. My 4th Chevy purchase from 4 different dealers, and this was the best experience of all of them.

I got my z06 from Campbell Chevy in Bowling Green. The sales person was Mike Dickson. I was extremely happy with them and would highly recommend. The committed to not charging more than MSRP last April (at least some of the forum dealers were still undecided at that point) and only asked for a $2k refundable deposit. They were prompt and very professional every step of the way.
