According to Mike Furman, as of this morning, the A8 hold has been extended until late next week.
I certainly hope GM gets it right. They certainly will have had the opportunity with the extended hold they have placed on these cars. Is it a GGT issue or QC issue? Who knows?
I guess we should know something late next week. If it is a GGT I am not surprised GM is keeping it quite, just in case they are unsuccessful. If it is a QC issue, it must be a significant one that GM would prefer to keep under wraps. Either way, we will likely hear nothing until the cars are released and or invoiced.

Two questions...Do the M7 deliveries appear to be on track in the last couple of weeks? Also, has anyone who has been to BG seen any activity around the cars being held - like perhaps the rear hatches being opened to gain access to the ECM?
Weren't there A8 museum deliveries scheduled for next week?
What would happen to those?
S.
I just spoke with my salesman, and he suggested that with normal NCM deliveries, that he usually has the invoice well in advance. He does have one scheduled for next week, and still does not have the invoice. Without the invoice, obviously you cannot complete the final paperwork.
If this "Issue" had to do with a "fix" for something to do with the A8 and relevant items even reprogramming....then why if a car was "fixed" would it be held?
Why not fix a car(s), invoice and then ship...why hold all cars?
And especially for the NCM cars, why would they be held if "fixed".
^ Yup. Most likely GGT/EPA issues unfinalized yet, again... round 2.... reminds me of early Dec when our M7 Z06's were held for a bit and then shipped w/ no invoice, etc. When my Z arrived at the dealer on 12/4, I couldn't take it home yet until the invoice arrived... good thing it did that following morning.
If there is a fix and it is being implemented in the recent cars coming off the line for the A8/Z06 then why would these "fixed" cars be held?
As for cooling, the new secondary A8 cooling system was designed and tested before being added to the production cars. And if that is being retrofitted in some way then way not release cars as they are "fixed"....as well as "fixed" cars coming off the line?

Still pointing to the............... GGT.
This makes the most sense to me. It would certainly be the simplest explanation and seem to fit the facts that are available to us. I wonder if they are still producing A8 Z06s given that they must be running out of room on their lot. Could this be why they seem to be pushing back on the TPWs?

Well, another possibility is that there is some "fix" in the works and it won't be available until late next week. Then the "fix" assuming some hardware item will arrive from a supplier and they can begin the task of retrofitting the cars.
It would seem it must be related to the A8/Z06. Could be anything, so no guesses.
If that is the case then cars coming off the line will have the "fix" and cars in the lot will be fixed in some order.
i was told by the museum yesterday that the hold is a normal part of a new model introduction. all of the cars are not just sitting. some are undergoing extensive inspections and testing. they could not offer any visibility on delivery because they do not know what if anything is being discovered.
Well, I hope that is all it is as I really question the "new model" theory.
After all the Stingray with the A8 has been in use for months, and there isn't much difference in the Z06, and the Z06 w/M7 has been in use for months. So there isn't much new involved.
Why would continue to hold a car once it has passed the QC checks? Why not invoice and ship once completed? Assuming nothing abnormal was found.
Very confusing.
For an A8/Z06 built three weeks ago, how much testing should be needed as it only involves the A8. And many cars have been built before retail production models with the A8...were these not checked thoroughly?
