My vehicle was just produced and I'm wondering how to activate onstar. Thanks for any help!
Large Talons, get to your dealer and they'll do that for you. Then you can download the Onstar app for smart phone and track your car from Bowling Green.
Congrats
GM should have a delete option for OnStar since it is long past its prime. There is also a dirty little secret about OnStar that is not well known. It does not work when you need it most. Consider the fact that OnStar needs to be powered from your car battery. If you are in an accident that compromises battery power your OnStar cannot call home. A serious accident that severs the battery cable or damages the battery cripples the system. If GM wants to sell the system as a safety package they should give it a black box architecture where it is totally protected in an accident.
Dealer agent does it. Mine came thru in "demo" mode and they have to change something in the program. I haven't had it done yet because I had a one day window at the time to get it home. (Dec #349) been in storage since then. Why would I want to drive it anyway with the tire issue. It averaged 9.4 deg here last mo. Lol

Dealer said the blue onstar button has to be pushed in car to activate. How does that happen when it's in bowling green, KY

Funny you mention this as there is a move to do exactly what you mention by all the manufacturers to move MORE stuff to black box technology.

I give OnStar a few years before it is officially obsolete. I know of one manufacturer that is moving toward allowing the smartphone to become aware of airbag activation and automatically dial 911. When they bring this out expect other manufacturers to follow. That is were the technology is going.
