It seems as though most of the half mile speed data (and roll race videos for that matter) have been cars with level 3 aero.

Has anyone compared half mile speeds for level 1 vs 3 on the same day? Are there any half mile speeds for a level one car at all?

This is a good read if you want some more information about what happens at high speeds:

Especially the "Variation of CD with Reynolds Number" section
With some good engineering, it shouldn't occur. Look at the Nissan GT-R Nismo. They added a very aggressive rear wing to increase downforce, but was able to maintain the .26 Cd(as the base GT-R)by redesigning the front and rear fascia's. The CdA didn't change and they didn't lose any of the top speed. Actually, the top speed went up from 192 to 195 with an additional 55 Horses, but with a rear wing that generated an additional 220 pounds of downforce over the base GT-R(with a different design rear spoiler).

The Z07 is a model that GM offers with more aggressive spoilers, splitters, etc to generate more down force, but with an increase in the coefficient of drag, but the top speed went down vs the base Z06.

The base C7 Z06 has lower top speed(by a lot) than the C6 ZR1 but with 12 additional horsepower. I don't see where the spoilers/splitters on the C7 Z06 are any more aggressive, and GM says they both have the same .35 Cd(and most likely the same frontal area).

I think Dave Hill did a better job of engineering the aero on the C6(and the Z06 and the ZR1) than Tadge did with the C7(and the Z06).

Think whatever you want, but the fact that the C6Z06 had negative downforce (lift) but the C7Z06 has 350 pounds downforce at 150 MPH means the aero is better on the C7.

Posted it a few back, but with mediocre skills, was able to get a pass at 156-157mph (PDR speed)
