Default OnStar Activation Help!

Help...I have a VIN and want to activate my OnStar. I called the dealer and he's asking me what needs to be done. He said he can "pre-activate" it. Is that what needs to be done so I can track the car? Thanks for all the help...you all rock. Makes all the worry go away with help from forum members.

Try Search for OnStar and will find links that explain what do.

I was just thinking the same. Subscribing in hopes that someone will chime in with the "how to"

I am trying to do this now. I asked a question here:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-question.html

I had bookmarked this (which was referenced from this forum in another thread):

Worthless! Just called OnStar to do my welcome call and they told me there is "no way we can activate your vehicle without someone in the car to push the button". The dealer has already done their part but now I can't get OnStar to do theirs. So frustrating!!!!!

I have an old account for my current Z and I guess I need to be in that car and push the blue button to reactivate that account first. Once I have that I guess I can add the new car via VIN number only???? We'll see how it goes.

I had no on star account.
My dealer established an account with onstar.
I then went to onstar and had my account information sent to my email address that the dealer used to establish the account.
I was then able to setup a username password with my account number.

Always "Refresh" the car icon on the map page. That is to get the latest info on location to update. After about 10 days the onstar will timeout and no location will be available. At that point you will need to have the dealer get you the railcar ID and then you can track it via railcar ID/#.
