I am of the "I'll Believe it When I See It" camp. That being said, not sure the proportions for that rendering work. Look how short the quarters are. It looks like the engine would be sitting on the center console IMO.
S.
It is virtually the same as the C7 Z except with some vents in in the back. No way a mid engine car would have the same shape. Cabin needs to move forward, nose needs to be shorter and lower. Lastly, if GM bothers to make a mid engine layout from scratch it will use that opportunity to design something new, not a Corvette look alike. The concept was already out a couple of years ago.
Snorman and SBC, totally agree. Proportions aren't there and I believe even though if they decide to go mid engine it will style have a few styling cues from this generation.
I agree the proportions are off, but I disagree that it won't look like a Corvette. I believe they'll attempt to keep some of it similar, like headlights, taillights, exhaust, etc. The design of a mid engine car alone will change the layout a lot.
Front end looks sharp but too much like the C7. Look at the Lambo Huracan for proportions, if GM does really do this car I think it will have to be similar or like the Ferrari 458. Tadge, are you out there.......hope you have the backing from the bean counters to make this Zora or whatever it will be called come to life. You don't want Ford to have a superior product than your halo car!
IMO, GM could just "streetify" a version of their already proven, "winning" Daytona Proto-type race car. The "infastructure" (drivetrain layout) is there, the front end styling is Corvette-ish, the handling dynamics are sorted. It just doesn't seem like a "quantum leap" to make everything work with a "production style" chassis and more "streetable" features. Again IMO.
