Default When does 2016 production begin?

I know it has probably been discussed, but I can't find it. When does production of 15 end and 16 begin? I am at 3000 and my dealer says tentative production is week of 6/1. Says cars after me are 16.
I ordered in late December and don't want to delay , but would be nicer to have the first 16 rather than last 15. No big deal but one model year newer
when selling later.

2015 production is currently scheduled to end on June 20th; 2016 production is currently scheduled to start on June 22nd.

You will probably lose any benefit on later sale, when you pay the inevitable price bump for the new model year.

If your TPW is 6/1, then they will build 2015's for two weeks after your TPW. That will be around 1600 to 2400 cars built after yours. The actual number depends on whether your car starts down the line on Monday, Tuesday , Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of the Target Production Week(TPW) of 6/1.

If it were me, I would tell my dealer to cancel the 2015 order and then have him submit an order for a 2016. But that decision depends on how large your dealer is and how many allocations he will receive for 2016's. If your dealer is a small dealer, his first allocation for a 2016 might be down the road a bit and you might be waiting awhile for your 2016. A large Corvette dealer is likely to get you one of the first 2016's built.

He also might receive a car that has changes/improvements for 2016 that will cause the car have a higher resale value later on.

There is no absolute guarantee that there will be a price increase on the first 2016's being built. My 2009 Z06(one of the very first 2009's built, in June 2008) did not have a price increase over the last 2008's built a week and a half before my 2009 was built.

It is not a good move to get a car this late in the model year. The depreciation on Corvettes is high and even if the 2016 price is higher the 2015 is still a year old when the 2016's are on the lots. You would also get any improvements that they have made in the build quality as well as engineering changes.

OP all depends if you keep your cars or trade soon. If its a keeper get the 15 and don't worry about depreciation. If you flip it soon a 16 may make more financial sense even with a modest price increase.
