So I just left the muffler shop I've used for years and he said its much cheaper to just purchase corsa or borla versus having them fabricate a custom pipe. The reason given was the system underneath is pretty complex.
Is this true? Has anyone tried a custom solution? I figured it would be fairly straight forward as I'm not touching the axle back or headers. Apparently not?

Ive posted pictures of the Corsa installed on my car (see below). It has perfect bends and double X welds. This is what Corsa and Borla do for a living. And they are good at it.
This is what the inside of the stock Cat looks like:

I agree with Brian. No sense in trying to reinvent the wheel when it already works great.
No CEL with the X pipe? Can you post picture of stock pipe? Thanks!
No CEL. There's no O2 band sensor to worry in the secondary cats. Everything is bolt-on/swap and clamps are also provided... and you just use the existing pair of doughnut flanges by transferring it from the old stock unit to the new Corsa.
Here is the Corsa double helix xpipe part #14761. This is the same for the Z06 and stingray. I love this pipe and makes the perfect exhaust sound with no drone. Just make sure you don't get long tube headers, since it won't work with this xpipe or the factory one.
