One of the 1st things I did with my last 3 wide body cars, including this current one, was to get the Apsis splash guards installed ASAP. Folks a lot smarter than myself with C6 Z06's told me about the Apsis splash guards, and in my 6 years (plus or minus a year or so) in using them, I had no problems with the sand and rock damage on the sides and rear vent areas.

With the 2015 Z06 I tried the 'after' new purchase GM guards before I left the dealership. However, while they were better than the OEM guards, they were still too narrow to do much good-----the front tires are wider than the GM guards. I ended up driving the car home with the blue painter's tape on both sides of the car, and parking the car in the garage until my appointment with the Xpel shop---which also installed my Apsis splash guards that had been delivered in the meantime.

Xpel will NOT cure the problem, the film will look horrible in a few weeks. I put on the GM splash guards and had to have my film redone again after just a few hundred miles. It is much better now. At the minimum guards and film.

Factory side skirts seem to do the job. 1,200 miles and no issues.

Factory side skirts and GM splash guards. 1,500 miles and not a single mark.

Side skirts really do help. I had a couple of rock strikes around the rear brake duct during the drive home from the dealership (I had splash guards installed at the dealership before I left). A few days later had ACS side skirts installed.... no more issues and almost at 1000 miles.
