Looks like an autocross. They usually set them up so it's rather difficult to land in a place like that. But I have seem some over aggressive driving that could force an outcome like that, or it could have been a poorly setup course and some not so good driving.

Course setup can be quite tricky for some groups. I was at an SCCA event on a half mile oval and the Safety Steward insisted on adding a kink in the course to slow the cars down as they came onto the front straight which had a concrete wall on the outside. Several of us tried to talk him out of adding it in that location because it would cause inexperienced drivers to spin their cars. Second car on course was a Neon which came into the kink, spun two times and hit the concrete wall with its rear bumper. The kink was removed after that. He had a choice of some cars hitting 70 in a straight line or some cars hitting the concrete at 40.

Do you know where this crash took place? I race Reno SCCA Auotcross at the Stead Airport. I missed the last event but heard that a woman from California crashed her Corvette into the stands. I wonder if this is that event?
