Default Auto Trunk Latch??

Hello again O' Wise ones! Just took delivery this past Friday! LOVE this car! Yes...pictures to come. I have a concern and knew you all would know the answer to.

While we were at the buyer's tour we noticed at least 5 stations having issues with our trunk not closing properly. Testing it at the dealer (who is 3 hours away) he said that we have to commit to slamming it shut. Well, our C6 had an auto latch and I would never dream of slamming it the way we have to literally slam this one closed. Is this right??? Does the Z06 not have an auto latch which catches the trunk and then gently brings it closed?

Thank you for your help. If this is an issue, I would like to start the process of getting it fixed at our local dealer Monday morning...

The 2015 is manual close....2016 adds the auto latch.

Bring the hatch down slowly to a nearly closed position. Now just push down on it near the edge of the window to close.

There is NO need to slam it down!

Gotta slam it, or open a door or window.

The 2016 will have the auto pull-down latch, but the 2015 doesn't have it.

I know my Z06 does NOT have an auto close for the trunk (prior 427 and C6 Z06 did not have this feature either). Before I close my trunk I will open a door if a window or door is not already open, and then the trunk lid closes with a pretty gentle pull down with the indentation latch............if the doors and windows are closed, I really have to slam the trunk lid to get it to close tight.......I have to close it so hard I just don't feel comfortable using that much force-----or even worse-----I fear putting a dent in the trunk if I use the palm of my hand to press it closed that last half inch or so.

Bottom line, I'm in the habit of opening a door 1st..........had to do the exact same thing with the 427 and c6 Z06. Yes, it can be a little bit of a pain at times, but I got use to it. Let us know if this works for you, or if there is something wrong.
