AtButtonwillow Raceway California racing my GT 2- Corvette..they offered some time trial events so I took my Z 06 out. it is 96 degrees. I took the car out in A8 I and in four laps it was shutting down because of overheat. I have ceramic
brakes and they actually faded during the last lap. On the good side the car really sticks. I had it in track mode with stabilizer and traction control off. GM or aftermarket suppliers have a job on their hands, for those who like to track their cars.best

The ccb's generally aren't the issue. Replace your fluid with Castrol SRF. It should make the brake issue go away.

As for overheating, not a surprise esp with summer time temps. For those not familiar, button willow in the summer is a nice temp of 90's and generally in the 100's.

You did burnish the brakes before taking it to the track - right???

Additionally, there's a track burnishing procedure that should be done for track use.

Was the pedal firm - just reduced braking effectiveness? If so, then you indeed had "fade" - probably from the pads outgassing from not being fully burnished.

Was pedal soft? If so, then you were boiling the fluid. The stock DOT 3 is not satisfactory for the track - you need to flush in a good high boiling point DOT 4 brake fluid before tracking the car.

never had this happen in 20 events with CCB's on SRF and full road and track burnish

Brake fade after four laps with the CCB package is very surprising. Burnishing was my first thought as well.

Some overheat, some don't. I suppose reality is somewhere in between.

So in fairness, the OP said it overheated after 4 laps and the brakes faded on the last lap.

My guess is that it's closer to some drive their cars hard on track, some don't.

Probably not much actual variation from car to car these days.

Had bedded brakes and soft pedal. Could very well be fluid. I had not planned to track car. Given the opportunity I gave into the impulse to take a few laps.

Yes AFE installed. Cannot see how it mattered. Imo , notwithstanding brake fluid and other minor adjustments , the car needs better cooling whether radiator, cooler per se, meth, etc. granted 96 degrees is extreme and after the first lap my gas pedal was to the floor, but still! Best

He's not the first to report overheating issues. If he put the A8 in D and went ***** out on a 96 degree day with the tranny shifting just before red line every time, then it is consistent with what others have reported. That said a PDR video and some data would be helpful.

On the other hand something is not right with his brake situation as he's the first (that I know of) to report such an issue with CCs. I have 2 HPDE on mine with about 5hrs of total track time without any brake fade, much less after four laps as he's reporting.
