Got word that I will be building my engine the second week in July Now that it's real I'm totally getting excited. My son will be going with me so it should be a fun time.
Wonder if they'll let me bring my own camshaft to install?

Congratulations! Look forward to meeting you when you come to the Performance Build Center! I won't be your builder/guide but say HEY if you get the chance.

LT4 Engine Builder
My 2016 engine/chassis build was on 6/24/2016. VIN#...00106.
I think only two items differentiate 16's from 15's. The '16 has a front end camera(maybe I will smack fewer curbs) and an automatic locking mechanism for the hatch.
Ordered it on 5/5 as a '15. Found out it was to be a '16' Will cost about $700 more. I began to wonder if I would ever see it.

Thx Barry. Looking forward to meeting everyone there. How do you know you won't be my guide? Have the assignments already been made or are you just not available that week? Just curious.

Yup,
Build schedule is already up. Forgot who is working with you. It'll be a surprise... I do know that you will enjoy the build very much. Best part is when you push the button to fire it up for the first time. Make your heart skip a beat for sure!

How long did it take you to get your date after your ordered was accepted?
Order was accepted about a month ago and got a call from the museum about three weeks ago saying to pick a date the week of July 6th. Went for the 8th.
TPW is the week of July 13th.

If you want me to, I can check the schedule to see who your builder/guide will be or we can let it be a surprise...

Sounds awesome, tell us all about it and pics if possible.
You might be the first person to void warrantee before the engine is even put in the car!!!

That sounds like a lot of fun. Do they let you take pictures during the assembly or is that off limits since you are in a production facility ?

My understanding is that there are lots of pics taken during the whole process. Corvette Museum coordinates the process and photos the event for you. Shud be a blast.

Your builder/guide will be Pedro. He was at the Bloomington Gold event in Indy doing the LT4 build demos last week. He is also the team leader in the cold test, balance & final inspection areas. Great sense of humor, intelligent & a good builder. You will have a great time for sure!
As for pictures, you will either have Nathan or Al from the NCM taking pictures of the entire process. Usually around 300 pictures. They both do a very good job. Looking forward to meeting you. I'll be the old guy with the gray beard...

Will definitely look you up and, oh yea, old is just a relative term. Remember gray is the new blond.
