Default Request to moderators

The overheating threads, many of which continue to be started by new members -- some of whom do not even own a Z06 -- are redundant and by definition are against the rules of most forums on the Internet.

I am personally tired of wading through numerous angry redundant threads dealing with overheating. As moderators, you should be combining the redundant threads, or deleting them, or creating one single thread under which the redundant overheating messages should be posted.

This whole thing is similar to the extremely annoying posts made by forum trolls when the Z06 first started being produced, in which Viper fans posted numerous redundant threads claiming the Z06 was slow, and a bunch of rolling race videos. Fortunately the moderators stepped up on that issue, and I hope you will do the same here.

I did notice that you all finally took control of the Ask Tadge forum, in order to quell the drumbeat of negative overheating questions posted by the same people (and new forum members, many of whom were not Z06 owners). Please take control of the Z06 forum as well.

Of course, overheating, if it is indeed happening for track cars operating in 90-100 degree temperatures as claimed, should be addressed by GM in one way or another. But the topic should not be allowed to take over the Z06 forum on this website.

As stated numerous times, GM engineers do not look at these forum pages, and as such, taking over the forums with these redundant angry threads will not get the issue (if it exists) solved. The only thing it will do is to upset a great many people who want to discuss other issues related to the car. It will cause good people to avoid coming on the forums as often. And it will continue to encourage non-owning trolls to register new memberships in order to trash the Z06, presumably in order to make them feel good about their BMW or Viper.

Thanks for listening.

Don't like it, then don't read them. Many owners feel like they should express their concerns and many of us that are ready to buy also read about it to figure out info on when GM will act and fix an issue so that we can buy with confidence.

If it exists?

Obviously you haven't been paying attention to all the reports from actual Z06 owners who are experiencing these issues ... so if anyone needs more threads on this subject it's apparently you.

I find this 'see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil' attitude by Z06 owners who don't experience this specific issue extremely selfish and self serving. The same folks who protest overheating threads would be the first ones authoring and posting in them if they had the issue, not necessarily get GM's attention, but to document the issue and to try to work with other members and vendors to find a solution. But of course it's hard to overheat at C&C so most owners aren't aware or care that their 'track capable' car actually isn't.

I'm sorry that you feel your ownership and forum experience is diminished by those who have real issues with their Z06 and wish to discuss them. But this is one of the most reported issues the cars has, and people need to be able to document their track days if their vehicle overheats (as it has been, nothing 'if' about it, as even Tadge has addressed it), and people need to discuss possible causes/solutions.

Will some trolls pile on? Of course they will, and all of us are free to ignore them.

Please bear in mind a few things:
  • The C7 sub-section of the forum is basically managed by 2 guys: Steven Bell and Zymurgy. I don't think I've seen Talon interact with/on the forum in ages, but perhaps he's just running silent; if so, I apologize for missing that. The key point is that those 2 (or 3?) guys have to cover the entire C7 sub-section, not just the Z06 one.
  • They can't read, react to, and moderate every single thread that gets posted. If things are going out of control, hit the little exclamation point in the post, and it'll send them a direct message to take a look at it.
  • Discussions are happening behind the scenes to try and address this, likely by creating a sticky that everyone can participate in. But we'll see where that goes; it's up to Steven and Zy, one of whom is off-line and out of pocket until the weekend.
Stand by, please.

I'm a new member. Don't own zo6 but get dismissed like a troll. This is not about non owners against zo6 owners. I placed deposit on my order. I joined this forum because I like for the first time what Gm did with corvette. The information that get to the front page gets dismissed, because some think it's an assault on the corvette zo6 or the owners. The car is killer, the best ever 100% agreed, but different owners want it for different things. Stop the bashing and organize events where forum members get together, post pics, videos write to car magazines that's what the forum is for. We're all taking about the same car it's benifits everyone.

Are you working for GM? Listen to your self. This is public forum that lives around corvette if the car has problems you ask your brothers on the forum. Dismissing information doesn't benefit you or the car.

Agree with original post. There are WAY too many duplicate threads on the same subject - that is the problem, and are typically handled by moderators by forming a sub-forum or STICKY. Which I have advocated for some time, that items like this should become a sticky. Also, there should be a sticky for NEW MEMBERS to start, and perhaps sub-forums under there. Not trying to stifle anyone's thoughts, but many of the threads are REGURGITATIONS of items that have talked about adnaseum.

And, before anyone slams me about not racing, etc. HAD 2010 ZR1 that tracked quite often, and traded on 2015 Z06. Have NOT decided if I will track or not, but do enjoy reading folks comments on problems they are encountering.

This...because of numerous posts giving a heads up about potential serious issues with the car, I was able to cancel my order in time until they are (hopefully) corrected.

Why not just make a C7 Z06 TECH/PERFORMANCE section? Problem solved.

I think a "Z06 Track Discussion" section may provide a better separation as tech/performance may still apply to those of us that don't track the car.

Agreed, the corvette forum is no place to have anything other than positive threads about corvettes! Why should members be able to discuss the vehicle freely?

Btw,you just created another thread you are trying so hard to eliminate. Send a moderator a pm.

Per the forum rules, requests to moderators should be sent via PM, not by posting in an open forum.

Complaints, Suggestions & Questions

If you have suggestions for the improvement of the Forum, questions or criticism of the Forum or its moderation, you are welcome to PM or e-mail a moderator. Please do not use an open thread for such messages, however.

That would include, but is not limited to discussions about who has been banned and why.

The work on the Forum's volunteer moderators is difficult enough without having folks calling them out in open threads.
If someone would like to assist by compiling a list of links to these "redundant" threads and PM'ing them to the moderators it would greatly assist us.
