Understatement at that - if you all think I have a lot of irons in the fire, Ben has twice as many and multiplied across at least 2 other platforms at the moment (new CTS-V and ATS-V) on top of the C7 development.

It is becoming more and more clearer that we need an additional core with additional airflow to cool this car down. The horizontal oil cooler that some companies are working on seems to be the only realistic fix. IMO the M7 is the only C7 Z06 that can be made to run cool because the manual transmission doesn't need the additional front mounted cooler.
I don't agree. The number of A8s I'm sure will be markedly greater than the number of M7's, hence any vendor wishing to generate as much income as possible had best design a system that does work for the A8 optioned car. It will be possible, someone just needs to take the time to see if a Setrab core behind the existing radiator; sandwiched after the secondary transmission oil cooler, etc. will work.

No doubt there will be demand for it, it's just not feasible...

The second transmission cooler is not in the same plane as the main radiator so a sandwich is not possible. If you place an extra core behind the main radiator that's 4 cores in a row. Not only will it inhibit the main radiator's function but it simply won't have sufficient airflow.

Placed in the same plane as the trans core it will be in direct path of the intercooler. Therefore it will inhibit the function of the supercharger, engine cooing, and A/C.

Everything is possible of course, with enough money, it's just that I don't see any vendors biting for something so expensive that only a few people can buy. The A8 needs a new bumper design, with additional fascia inlets and possibly fender well outlets. That means a near total redesign.

The A8 seems to be running at very safe temperatures so an aftermarket compromise may be a better radiator (DeWitts) along with a replacement for the front transmission cooler that shrinks it slightly and uses some of the vacated space for an EOC. This might provide sufficient cooling for the majority of A8 track users.

I don't think it would help much but you could also go with a lower thermostat to start cooling earlier. Those items shouldn't void any warranty.

Can you tell if this is the newer version or older version ?

Just an FYI, I bought this a few days ago. I called your company to get the correct part number and asked if there was anyway of mixing them up and I was told there was not. Now I will have to ship this back to get a refund and source another one. I have a pre paid COTA track day Sunday that I will now miss due to miss information from Dewitts directly. Huge pain in the a** I did my best to avoid

Can you guide me to where to purchase the newest version and get me the correct part number please.

Thanks

Chris,

Many people call here for technical assistance, pricing, and other details and then go somewhere else to purchase the product in an attempt to save a few dollars. What we offer today is the 2nd design and there is no way to order the wrong one FROM US. In this case you purchased the radiator from Summit and they must have had one of the 1st designs in stock.

Since the race is Sunday and today is Friday there is nothing I can do to get you a 2nd design radiator in time. The only options are A) Use that radiator B) Send it back to Summit. If you choose B, then you can re-order it from us and you will get the 2nd design. We also will be posting our annual sale (15% off) in a couple days so this might be the time to do that.

If you still want to talk with me, call the office 517-548-0600

Tom
