Default Questions before purchase

I'm looking to purchase a new Z06 and have found one with the color and most the options I am looking for. The issue I have is the car only comes with one roof and it is the transparent roof panel. I do not want the sun beating down all the time. I have seen other models have a headliner with suction cups that hold it in place. Does anyone have any experience with these? I asked about just buying another roof to match the car color but I have been quoted $1742 - $5820 from different dealers and they can not tell me what the difference would be between the prices. Anyone know about getting an extra roof? Last, the car is stage 1 and does not have any ground effects on the rockers. Anyone know how much it is to purchase a set of the painted carbon flash?

Thank you for the help and suggestions.

The difference in price would be the painted CF roof vs the exposed CF roof.

If you buy that car you are paying a premium for the clear top. It is an option

You could possibly find someone who would trade (depending on what color you would need)

Buy a painted top (they are frequently listed for sale here, ebay, ect) then sell your clear to offset some of your expense.

Have your clear top wrapped while waiting for a painted top to come along

I'm pretty sure the aftermarket has the rockers available... OEM will be pricey.

Im the kind of guy who would buy 20 bucks worth of 3M black vinyl wrap and just cover it up until I found a OEM carbon roof for cheap.

I had a mid '80s Z28 with those dark see thru T top panels, and never found it annoying in the sun, even in SoCal.

That said, the transparent roof panel is NOT on the list of options I ordered for my car. I don't have a problem with it, i just didn't see the need to spend the money for something I didn't care about.

Buy the car, get an opaque inner liner if it bothers you. I suspect you will be oblivious to it in a short time.

BTW, there are three or four vendors here that sell the CFlash side skirts.

I will be getting my skirts from one of them.

Prices vary, some skirts are slightly larger than factory, also.

WeaponX has them,as do others I can't recall.

Have the darkest window tint you can find locally applied to the inside of the top. It will work miracles in cutting down on heat/sunlight coming into the car.

Thank you for all the responses. I was lucky enough to find a car and get it way under MSRP. I decided to purchase a new roof and have if painted to match the CRT. It comes to about $2500 after it is said and done. As for looking on here for used, I do not think they would be Z06, probably Stingray roof. I do like the idea of having the original roof tinted. I priced out the side skirts through chevy and they were $1692 per side. That does not include the installation. If I decide to add them, I will probably go aftermarket. I just do not see the need for $4000 to do HPDE days.

Thank you again for all the responses.

Jon,
Check out some of the Forum Vendors as they can get you OEM parts much cheaper than your local dealership.

The Stingray roof panels and the Z06 panels are identical. Same part numbers. Don't let the fact that it came off a Stingray stop you. And don't hesitate to ask the dealer to switch the polycarbonate roof for a body-colored roof on an in-stock Stingray.

I had the transparent top on both by 86 C4 and 97 C5. The 86 had more of a grayish/blue tint while I ordered the 97 with the bronze tint. There was only one problem with the sun that both cars shared and that was when it was coming in at the correct angle it would shine down behind my sunglasses and the reflections interfered with my vision. That was solved by wearing my favorite Corvette hat while in the car.

Thank you all. I pulled the trigger and signed papers today! I think shipping company is picking up tomorrow and I will have by the end of the week. I will see how it does first, then think about adding second roof if needed.
