anybody who came from a stick miss it . My last two have been sticks would like some input..
My last four Corvetts were sticks, I got all wrapped up in tracking them, heard the A8 would turn a faster lap time. So I took a gamble, so far I'm very happy.
I will say, if you are a hot shoe you could do just as good, or even better with a stick. But if your like me and only do a few a year, the A8 is amazing.
Just the reverse for me. I had a long succession of manuals, then several autos in a row, but the last two Corvettes have been manuals again. The Z06 has a light clutch and a nice shifter that even a 70-plus old fart like me can manage with ease. If you drive for fun, there's not much that's as viscerally satisfying as a manual transmission. If you use the car to commute in traffic, an auto's convenience might trump the manual's fun factor.
6 speed manual Z06 for 13 years....now the 8 speed paddle shifter A8....PRICELESS!
Drove sticks all my life. Had five different 911s, M3, M5 etc. Have had my A8 Z for the past four months. This thing is fantastic. I will never go back. I enjoy the paddles from time to time but mostly just get a kick out of the the A8 doing its thing. Its certainly, faster and smarter than I am. I would say that the A8 simply represents a new form of excitement so I really do not miss the involvement of shifting gears. Never thought I would say such a thing, but there you have it.
I had two non Z06 vettes with auto transmissions. The last an 08 with paddle.
Then I bought my 2010 Z06 with manual six speed.
I am considering getting a 16 Z06, and it will be a manual for sure.
I just enjoy the shifting.

I had the c6 z06 not a daily driver. Thanks for the input

Always had manuals, the latest was a 6 speed. Prior to that 5 speeds and 4 speeds. I love the A8 SO FAR. Go to the grocery store in D. But for twisty mountain roads with elevation changes, paddle shift auto is the ticket for me at least. That said if its going to over heat on the track (will track next couple of weeks) and you are going to track it, the collective wisdom says a manual. bob noob
