I have never had the problem you describe, I rarely push "stop recording".
Really? Maybe we have different software versions for the PDR. I need to check my version.
My brother made several blunders like this on Spring Mtn last week in different C7's and same result. I purposely tried it on my Z06 and the filename extension ended up being a .raw and it wouldn't play at all on the PC or in the Infotainment.
Try to record and then when you're done just turn off the car w/o pushing 'Stop Recording'. Then try to play it and also check what file extension it has (.mp4 or .raw).

The only time I press 'stop recording' is when a track session is junky and just not worth it, every other time I just turn the car off in the paddock. A .raw file is image data, not video data. It's used to turn into a JPEG file for the thumbnail. You probably have a file with the same name and a .mp4 extension.

Strange... it's different on what we experienced. For example:
For every properly recorded session, we always have 2 files (1 with the correct .mp4 extension and 1 with the .png extension) therefore one is a video file and the other is the image thumbnail file.
For a recorded session where "stop recording" was not pressed, we still end up with 2 files BUT... 1 is a .raw file (instead of .mp4) and the other is the thumbnail image .png file. Even the large sized video file has RAW File under the Type column when viewed in file manager.
Here's an example of the difference... incorrect (RAW file) vs. correct (MP4 file):

Interesting. I assume renaming it to .mp4 doesn't work? I'd take it up with the dealer. There was a PDR software update, I'm not sure when your car was built but maybe that would help.

Yup tried that... no luck. Google'd possible solutions but nothing definitive, nothing worked so far... I even download other types of video viewers and still no good. The applications simply cannot open it (the .raw file) due to the invalid extension or format. It sucks for my bro... all his Spring Mtn sessions aren't playable even through the C7's infotainment display.
Another important thing to remember about the PDR... always press "Stop Recording" when you are finished because if you fail to do so then your recorded sessions won't properly close as a .mp4 file by the PDR.... instead it will be saved as a .raw file and you will not be able to open it up on a computer (or replay in your Infotainment) to view your video recording. In addition, it will not work in the Cosworth Toolbox. My brother learned this the hard way... anyone know how to convert the .raw file to a .mp4 file? Simply renaming it with the .mp4 extension after the filename doesn't work.
Did you ever figure out how to convert a *raw file? I have the same issue.
Is it possible to have it turn the PDR on every time you start the car? I would love to have a rolling video of just cruising around town incase someone does something particularly stupid.

I made sure I pressed stop recording because I had really wanted the video I had taken and I ended up with .raw file.
I never have had that problem with the car at Spring Mountain or my own, I have forgotten a lot of times, they all read on the PDR and the computer, No sound on the computer, I dod have sound on the PDR.
