I have not performed this first hand, but instructions from Spring Mountain went something like this:

1. Engage any track mode setting (like you've already stated)
2. Push in clutch and hold
3. Shift to 1st
4. Press accelerator to the floor quickly and completely and hold
5. RPM will go to about 4000 and hold
6. Dump clutch and off you go
7. Do not let up on accelerator or launch control will end
8. There will be a small amount of tire spin in M7

Thanks, ericmking. I saw some discussion earlier, but I don't recall a clear answer...

So what should be done when speed shifting to 2nd in this scenario? Keep the right foot planted and let the computer control wheel spin, or does the computer release during the shift and the driver better control the gas carefully? (A certain video of a Z06 kissing some trees comes to mind.)

Best I remember from SM you keep your right foot planted through the gears. The computer keeps if from flying apart.

When you go to select the mode make sure you don't press the button on it or it'll cancel it out, just leave it on there. The engine should rev up to around 3500 RPMs. All of my best launches came in track/race for reference

Thanks badhabit_wb. You may have answered my question, but to be clear ... I'm not asking if the no-lift-shift logic will keep the engine from over revving. I want to make sure that the launch control logic will keep the back end from going crazy when I slam into second and keep the throttle floored.

You should be fine in track/sport 1, in sport 2 you could have a problem. Launch control is just for first gear, according to SM, if you're in sport 2 you could make an off track excursion like the one on youtube. The guys at SM said it would absolutely not do it in sport 1.

That's what I was looking to confirm. Thanks!
