Default A8 vs M7

I thought if I start another thread we won't be talking about this in other threads The new Z06 is great with either transmission. You look at the over all gearing comparing the 2 the A8 has the MUCH lower 10.99 vs 7.83 over all 1st gear explains why the A8 is faster stock to stock when racing 1/4 mile. The lower gear is putting more power down and allows a major traction advantage.

It get's off the line quicker. A 2-3 tenths in the 60ft is a big advantage . Faster 60ft gives you faster ET as well as faster 0-60MPH.

So save your breath on coming in and posting the A8 is faster 1/4 mile
stock to stock.... Everyone agree's!

Doesn't mean that the M7 is not fast too but in a different
way. We have the A8 cheer leading squad here. Tooting the A8 horn.
Saying the A8 is better well for stock 1/4 mile. If that's all your doing it maybe for you.

But when we you get in highway roll races where the stick is running in say 2nd gear at rpm the A8 loses the gearing advantage it enjoyed at lower speeds. Also the A8 has to make up for the low 1st and has now
a wider spread between the rest of the gears meaning the M7 enjoys less RPM drop and we know has less drive losses. A well driven M7 can pull the A8 in a roll race
at speeds starting above 40 mph and up. As well as side by pulls at faster speeds.

I enjoy the M7 esp with the MGW shifter. Plus there are plenty of other M7 owners as well that bought M7 after the A8 was already out all though when you count total sales the M7 vs A8 were all most equal.

It would be interesting to see a 40 or 50 mph roll race to 100 mph.

Hopefully two friends with one of each can have some fun trying this.

stop bench racing. funny how people put numbers on paper that doesnt mean squat

0-130 at beats m7
40 to 170 a8 beats m7

ive been at the track m8 stock traps higher than m7 with intake
ive been at street races stock a8 beats m7

now hows this bring your car down to my track event we have in october. Im giving the fastest z06 250 bucks but ill be happy to race my stock a8 vs your m7 at the track and on a roll. Then when i win you can write down all the weather info and post also the reason why you think you lost.

If your primary goal with a C7 is to go a short distance in a straight line as fast as you can, then get an A8. If you want to have lots of fun driving the car, get the M7.

My guess is, most here pretty well understand the pros/cons and differences b/n the two transmissions.

If you want slower quarter mile times and also road course times get the m7.... then again a8 or m7 might over heat so road course not worth it lol.

I just want the best vett and though m7 may be more fun to drive I'd hate to have a modded z06 m7 abd get beat by stock auto......but not everyone thinks like that.

Can't wait for the drag strip shootout

Actually, the fastest track (road course) times have been in an M7. For example, the 2:41 time Miro set at VIR was an M7.

This is very true. The Z06 with a manual is a true drivers car. The Z06 with the A8 is just a stop light racer.

The new Z06 is a fantastic car. Had a C6 Z06 and it was an excellent Corvette.

Waiting on my 2016 Z06 with M7 (this car will never, ever run in "ECO" mode).

The only thing I just can't fathom is that the automatic, unless in MANUAL MODE constantly, will go into V4 (ECO mode) when not driven under load.

A Z06, under V4 mode, and no way to shut it off (short of a tune) unless manually "paddling" my way through gears? Really? Blasphemy!

Never an A8 for me, under any circumstance.

All *** or no ***, no half ***!

OP: Looks like the fact that the A8 is faster is keeping you up at night. It may be good for your health to keep a more open mind. Don't want you to have an aneurysm.

Actually this was totally for the closed minded A8 fanboys.
If you notice they re the ones stirred up.
The times are in. The M7 is faster around a road course where your 60ft doesn't help you because you don't stop.

The A8 is better for straight line racing and the M7 is better for the track (road courses and stuff).

I don't understand the apparent need for affirmation of one's choice in set up. Get what you want, and enjoy what you have.

If you're looking for a unanimous affirmation from everyone here that your particular set up, option package, color, wheels, tires etc. is the perfect one. . . well, you're not going to get it. People have different tastes/preferences.

This thread was for you really. First Corvette for you then you only buy the Auto for the "supposed bragging rights".
Kinda like a few others who are out just for bragging rights.

When your Corvette with 37 miles is at the strip. Your's will be the same.

The results of the A8 being quicker in a standing start. Made no difference in my purchase. After 7 Corvette's I made a Auto Corvette purchase in the past. I know I want the Manual. They are more fun to drive.

Then I clearly said pass on this thread talking about the 1/4 mile. I listed the reason the A8 has a quicker 0-60 which lowers your 1/4 times.

You keep talking about what you have no idea.
You keep inventing up made up races to keep yourself feeling tall. You never Really saw a Halltech manual equipped vs an A8 from a 50-60mph step down now did you?
If that were true why no video?
