Hi -- I was driving hard yesterday (near red line in 2nd) and car was already warm from a previous drive. As I was shifting into 3rd, a yellow light appeared that ringed the outer edge of the tach -- from say the 7 o'clock location to 4 o'clock. It was not the inner ring, which goes away as the car warms up. I've never seen this before after nearly 10,000 miles. The car was in Eco mode when the light appeared and then I shifted to T, thinking it might go away. It didn't. However, after about 65 miles of driving, it disappeared as readily as it appear. Does any one have any idea what this might mean? Thanks. Frank
I'm pretty sure it's to let you know your close to red line.
Thanks. I was pretty near there when the yellow ring appeared, so that could be, reminding me that I had done so. But wouldn't you expect it to disappear shortly thereafter? It stayed on for some time.
Did it look like the glowing ring you get in the Sport display, the one that acts like a shift signal when rpms are high?
Unfortunately not -- it just stayed bright the whole time, not moving, and not seemingly related to anything else. I spent some time with the manual today, but it didn't say anything (no surprise I guess). I was wondering if it indicated any kind of fault -- so I checked all the vitals and no problem. A mystery? Thanks for your idea Bob. Frank
This light comes on as others have indicated to warn you to get ready to shift. It will eventually and quickly go red.
I think what the OP saw is that on my 14 every so often the yellow light would stay on which frankly is annoying. Not all the times I accelerated but maybe a 40 % chance. It goes out with the next engine cycle or at about 5 minutes of driving in my case.
Thanks everyone. Think I'll need to experiment a bit to find out what happened. Possibly I leaned on the dial, setting something in motion, or it is merely something funky that won't occur again. Frank

Weird things sometimes happen that aren't repeated again and can't be reproduced, no matter how hard we try. When it happens to me I just rell my wife I'm going out for a drive...
