Rev Limiter?
This is my first manual since the 70s, is it okay to hit the redline now? Do the computers prevent you from doing any damage? For example, if during hard acceleration you shift up a gear and the RPM jumps up over 7k, will that float the valves?

The rev limiter will prevent damage. However, a mechanical over-rev from an ill-timed downshift has the potential to cause damage.
