Default Long term Stage 1 Drivers: Paint damage to rockers?

Howdy!
I have a stage 1 car and love it.
I have read cautionary posts on forum to install rocker skirts to avoid chips on paint caused by tires ki kicking up rocks and pebbles.

I would rather not add the side skirts.

Can anyone attest to the long term condition of rocker paint after some long term or higher mileage use of a stage 1 car with no additional side skirts installed.

Or am I nuts thinking about enjoying my car with no skirts?

Thanks!

The side skirts protect your sides and the rear wheels.
I had a 2014 and after seeing the damage with no shirts but I did have the splash guards. I wasted no time getting them on the 2015 Z06. Like I took them to the dealer to be installed for delivery. Only 4 miles with no shirts. They are a must in my book.

Unfortunately after a mere 850 miles I have a few dings. I have an appointment this week to have Xpel installed (I made the appointment over month ago).

Definitely money well spent. Personally, wish I had planned better.

I don't personally care for the looks of the side skirts. I have 4K miles on my stage 1 C7Z. I did pick up some chips in the beginning but after installing the front OEM splash guards AND wrapping the rear brake ducts and installing 3M Pro paint protection film on the rear fenders, it is much better now. I have also learned that when you are driving in an area with rocks in the road to slow down. I am much happier now that I'm not sand blasting my own car. I had the PPF applied up to the bottom of the fuel door and it has really helped. Plus, this can easily be replaced later if I get a few nicks out of the film. At least the paint is now protected. Just my two cents...

I have about 2k miles on my black Z and the damage is already done. After about 800 miles I started seeing the chips on the rockers, vents and rear quarter panel. I also live in an area where roads can get sandy so my bumper, headlights and front fenders have spots on them as well. I'll probably end up doing a wrap which hopefully hides some of it.

As of 100 miles ago I did add skirts so hopefully future damage subsides but what's done is done and it bothers me more and more everytime I notice it.. If I were you I would just get the clear protection ASAP and like 1QUICK Z said worst case the film gets some nicks in it and you just replace it with no harm done.

Before the 1,000 mark mine we're beat up. Now at almost 17,000 miles, I'm having them painted over the winter and then doing Xpel over that area. I have Xpel on most of the rest of the car, but because I knew I couldn't live with the Xpel just covering the chips I didn't cover that part. Pain in the *** and crappy design from GM to not make wider splash guards from the factory.

You either xpel the hell out of the rockers, or you get splash guards and side rockers installed.

You really have no other choice unless you dont care about your cars paint.

I'm very happy that I added ACS' side skirts
and GM's aftermarket splash guards:

Get the side skirts. The GM splash guards and added clear-bra was not enough to protect my car at all. The plastic will get little white dings in it and looks like chips on my night race blue car.

The short term damage was bad enough to make me order side skirts
