The powder coat is peeling off on the inside if the wheels in my C7 wheels. Dealer says this is normal . I think not. I contacted Chevrolet and they assigned an incident number but blew it off after the Service Manager says it is normal.
Anyone have a similar issue? Any suggestion in what to do next?
Are wheels covered under warranty? If they are, I would have the dealer get you a new wheel. The other option is to spend like $1500 and get the C6 ZR1/Z07 Cup Wheels (they're lighter and look amazing).
Thanks. Yes should under warranty . Got the car this past March. Car has only 4200 miles on it.
I would check around with a few dealers (in case your dealer says they won't replace the wheel) and hopefully they'll be able to get you a brand new wheel. Good luck.
The real "heart break" for me is when I found out I had wheels "made in China" on my "All 'merican" Z06. The wheel "barrels" (sadly too) are not powder coated either, it is just paint. And yes, it's pealing/flaking off mine also with probably less than 1K miles. I have beautiful Finspeed (100% 'merican) wheels as my "street/show" wheels and only use the OEM's with the PSC2's for racing, including to and from the tracks (explaining the low miles on them).

If it was powder coat, then that is an indication of improper surface treatment prior to the powder coating. Powder coating is tough as nails on a properly prepared surface.
Are you sure it was liquid coated? Again would be the same problem....improper pre-treatment.
Chevy Silverados from about 2008-2014 (something like that) did not have proper pretreatment done on the frames and they are peeling/rusting. A good friend of mine took his truck back to dealership and there is a bulletin that tells the dealer that they will fix it.
In his case his one year old truck is having the bed and cab lifted off the frame and the frame is going to be completely repainted. They told him they would need about a month.
I have a 2012 Silverado that also has that issue. In my case I am going to watch his outcome before I decide what I want to do. Supposedly the frame mfg didn't degrease them very well and the paint adhesion is terrible. I wouldn't mind lifting the bed, but pulling the cab off with all the electrical X could turn into a nightmare down the road.....
