C7 Z06 vs C6 ZR1 half mile race

Maybe the majority of C7Z owners wanted the more aggressive exterior and better, more modern interior of the C7Z? I appreciate that the C6 ZR1 is a fantastic performance machine not plagued by the overheat issue of the C7Z, but I just am not that thrilled with the C6 interior. This coming from a former C6Z owner, and I loved that car during the time I had it (7 years).

So the intake and exhaust did nothing for the ZR1? Dyno numbers aren't everything. That's probably the only reason the ZR1 begin to pull.....makes sense to me. And for most part, the race would have been much closer without the modification. ZR1 is a faster car in stock form however the two cars are close enough to be a driver's race.

The z06 outsells the zr1 because it is a way better looking car. I went and looked at the zr1 when it came out and just thought that it looked kind of goofy. That cheesy hood window and chrome rims on most...yuck
The c7 Z06 is a badass street car, and it brings a smile to me everytime I drive it. It's faster in the useable speed range (0-100) and sounds amazing. I have never run into any cooling issues but I do hope GM addresses this in the future versions.

Do get me wrong I am sure the A8 would have the advantage from a dig up to a point.

I think we have a car with mods racing a stock car.
Intake and the cat back is worth at 30.
I also think we get a different result or at least a better showing
(rolling starts are not the A8's game) with the M7 and a Halltech installed. My ZR1 felt faster than my M7 Z06 until I added the Halltech. Then since the Z06 wins in EVERY department with just that 1 mod. I sold the ZR1. I enjoy the 2015 Z06 more. I even enjoy my 2008 Z06 more than the ZR1.

Are you kidding?
50 h.p?A cold air intake is 12h.p on a Zr1 and a cat back exhaust adds nothing just sound. There are no headers no larger than stock diameter pipes.Where do you get 50h.p from? The Zr1 pulled away by several car lengths at top end where would you see that as an even race?

Those same Honda Civics would eat our C7 Z06's too, and those same people think C7 Z06 owners are clowns... Plus, they could care less about PDR videos...
People like each car for different reasons. The ZR1 is a monster both on the road course and drag strip. The Z06 is a Monster (Even better than the ZR1) on the drag strip in the A8.

Why do these Civic owners think ZR1 owners are clowns? Just curious as to why they would feel that way specifically about ZR1 owners. BTW, what does that have to do with anything in this thread?

Hood window shows the top of the intercooler. Not plastic.
I really don't get all the hostility b/n C7 Z and C6 ZR (not directed at you Game, just this thread generally). The two baddest azz Corvettes made.
Vid looked fine. Couple of cool vettes stretching their legs. Some good, clean fun.
Relax.

It was a fair race...The ZR1 won flat out. But I'm sure in another scenario the Z06 would win also. All a matter of the driver. Unfortunately that Z06 driver was absolutely terrible and didn't put their foot fully in it. Oh well...Both really great cars IMO!

When you know a revolutionary product is about to drop, you don't buy the old one, it's a lot different from buying a 2012 right before the 2013s come out.
And at the risk of sounding like a waxer (believe me, I am not), there is more to the experience than the tenths of a second over 120 MPH. The C7(Z) is night and day vs the C6/C5, which we have all repeated time and again, I know.
The C7Z and ZR1 can both be heavily modified and run neck and neck all day long at various levels of power. Yes, stock vs stock the ZR1 can do a top speed pull better.....but does it do ANYthing else better?
I would love to have a ZR1 in my garage but my garage is full. If I have to choose one, which I did, it's the C7. I can always increase my top speed by adding power, but I can never update a C6 to 2014+ levels of technology/etc.
C6 came out in 2005....google up 2005 models from other manufacturers and see what you get.....yuck. but of course they were amazing in 2005 ;-)
