With this z07 package scratching/scraping the front splitter is gonna be inevitable.
What do you all do about it? Obviously aesthetically on the bottom of the splitter from a driveway is not an appearance issue. But can having the paint layers damaged cause the carbon fiber to separate? Should we always repair it immediately?
Is there a structural but not cosmetic repair that we can complete ourselves?
Close to impossible to repair to original appearance, a visible carbon fiber if those scratches are on the top or front of the splitter (whether stage 2 or Z07). A carbon fiber flash painted can easily be rescratch repaired and painted (any why I personally chose to get mine that way).
Best prevention if one doesn't always back in to parking spaces, is the new birds eye cameras on a 2016, 2/3 LZ, or for 2015 Z06 owners, is to install the mini curb alert.
For dips and speed bumps on the road, you know about going very slowly, always at a 45 degree angle, and setting your DMS to track just before going over those bumps.
I have the Caravaggio front splitter (as well as the side skirts) in Visible Carbon Fiber.
But I did paint the edge in Crystal Red to highlight these ground effects on my black car.
As a result (and yes I have scratched the front edge) I can repaint with touchup paint that front edge and still have the CFV appearance in tack!
Does touch up paint keep the carbon fiber bonded? Or do you generally put some form of resin first and then paint it?
I have not had a need to do anything more than just touch up the paint. Just scratches. No cracks or severe damage to repair. It is structurally very strong as I have rubbed it against the pavement severely without any damage. I also have some 1/2" cone washers underside to help shield the bottom.
My car is lowered all the way down on stock bolts with about a 4" clearance at the front.
I put on a removable front license plate. It is low enough that it sticks out and I have bumped it a few times....acts like a curb feeler given the amount of noise it makes...but no problems with the splitter!

All sounds good and helpful, but what do you mean by set your DMS TO TRACK? Track dry. I guess the stiffer shock setting will keep the front end from bouncing when going over a bump. Am I right? Thanks

Exactly. By rotating your driver mode selector to "track," it stiffens your shocks.
I ordered a 4 in 1 touchup pen from cultrag... That should cover most littel scratches. I am probably going to get the washers as well. Do they impact the downforce at all?
I drive mine too much to worry about it. Hits on just about every entrance that I have to go into---when it gets bad enough will just have it replaced or take it off. Not real happy with the rear spoiler either but the car came with it.
Mine is for running on the highway and the aero package just hurts my gas mileage and imho the looks are a little over the top. When it is having the engine work done in a couple of weeks just may have it removed. Got to find a tasteful replacement...

Just got back after a 1600 mile run with my Z06. I have full Stage 3 on the rear spoiler and the center wickerbill is full up.
Got 24.1 mpg on the car! No bad at all.

That is good! I got a little less than that on my last run to Florida but close (some was at the higher speeds lol). Mine is more about the looks really. The front wings are going at a minimum and the spoiler that was on my Z51 was perfect. Wish it would mount in the same holes!!
After the new 2.3, long tube headers, cam, meth injection, x pipe and my Borla Attak from my old Z51 it is going to look like a sleeper unless you watch it thump at idle! Adding 200 more hp will make it a killer from 60 to 150! Not going to put DR's on because of the handling in the rain on my road trips..
My oil burner trucks were set up this way--looked just like your typical 4in lift with larger tires! When the black smoke started pouring out and the tires spinning it was a different story. Wish the EPA would not have clamped down on the oil burners but hey now I have the actual platform to take advantage of the hp.
Will not be up to my last Dodge oil burner on the TQ level but the RWHP will be very close...
