Default Check engine light on (help)

So my 2016 A8 hit 500 miles started having fun.
Then I hit 1000 miles on Friday and REALLY started having fun!!
So from a roll in 1st (in drive) smashed it
And at 130 mph, reduced engine power light came on and power cut to NOTHING!! Limped home. Parked car, came out an hour later had full power, but check engine light still on! Didn't want to take too the dealer. I like my dealer just 70 miles away!
Has anyone experienced this?? Any insight?? Or advice is welcome!!

My first thought is to try and disconnect battery??

Thanks in advance guys!

Did you call OnStar to find out which code was causing the CEL?

Had the "reduced engine power" code once. After getting home restarted car and engine light was still on. After car cooled 3-4 hrs engine light went away and no further issues. At the dealer they said the code was for air intake sensor issue. There was a software update available for the intake they applied even though at that point car was running fine. The tech said any number of sensor faults will cause the car to reduce power to prevent damage. If issue on yours continues, bring it by the dealer for diags.

Cheers

It will turn itself off after a bit of time. Had the same thing happen to me on a 1/2 mile sanctioned race. What a bummer to be pulling great, "feel loss of power" look down to see reduced power light on. Ruined the balance of that day.

Took it to my friend at the dealer, he scooped the car and NOTHING showed up as a fault.

I am pretty sure a tune will be in my future.

Many times just starting and shutting off, key cycles, a non real issue cel will be gone and many never return. If it's still on go out and start and stop it 12-15 times. When restarts without cel take it out for some spirited driving to see if it returns. If so you will have to go see a dealer. Also as mentioned above new downloads often solve issues as well. My 15 would set a VSS light when doing a burnout in any mode other than weather and would then go into reduced power. Very embarrassing.

I had a CEL issue that would go away after "flicking" the fuel door a couple of times letting the door kinda slam shut. Corrected the CEL two or three times but would eventually reset. The dealer traced the problem to a single circuit in the ECM that was faulty. ECM replaced, no CEL again.

As the Bishman suggested, spoke with OnStar there are levels of CEL. Red bring to dealer now! Yellow try and get to dealer ASAP and green like mine whenever you can get there. Mine had something to do with fuel OnStar rep said. But I am green??? Okay I will just wait until my 2000 mile oil change. Hopefully it will just reset itself.
