They could've done something amazing with the Viper, but didn't. The GenV next to a C7Z...the cars look decades apart.
The masses at Caffeine and Octane/Caffeine and Exotics disagree. The C7Z is good looking car, I came from a C6Z. However, my TA makes Corvettes disappear at car shows no matter how ugly the Internet thinks it is. Seems like the best bar for comparison since there are hundreds of exotics present for the general public to look at. Opinions are opinions...

100% true.

While I do think the styling on the C7Z is better, there is absolutely no denying that if you to any C&C or similar show and there is a Viper there, especially a Gen IV or V, the crowd will pass right by the Vettes to go see the Viper.

When I had my Gen IV, it drew FAR more attention than any car I've had before or since. That's not why I own any car but it is interesting how much more public response a Viper will get vs a Vette.

That's completely logical. Had I not spent substantial time looking at one I would be very interested in seeing one in the wild. To be honest I have seen more exotics driving around than the viper. So just the simple novelty of it would interest me.

It was a fairly easy decision to go with the Vette for me. I like road tripping my cars. And in the viper there were just way to many compromises.

Are they cool? Very... But I'll keep the Vette.

Thanks! I was able to see just about every color at Viper Exchange in Houston before placing my order. I liked the Billet Silver over the Gunmetal Pearl, the silver paint looks like it's still wet.

Thank you, enjoy your Z06. I haven't driven one yet but it sure looks like a nice car and similar power to the Viper so I know it's fun to drive!

I paid MSRP, when I bought it, I didn't see many discounts being given at the time and I was going to pay MSRP on the Z06 I was going to order. The Viper was around $114,000 (only options were: Advanced Aero, 18 speaker upgrade, SRT hood, wheels and tires, Full Napa Leather interior, and all of the standard equipment on the GT model) and the Shark Gray Z06 I specked out was $110,000. The Viper dealer was easy to work with, they support the racing team and have there own performance division that can install aftermarket parts on the car and retain the factory warranty. So I probably could have paid less from another dealer, but service after the purchase was more important.

Thank you! I agree with your comment on people's reactions to the Viper vs. the Vette. There are so many Corvettes on the road, they get over looked and aren't appreciated for what they really are. In the Viper I get lots of waves and thumbs up, people taking pictures or slowing down/speeding up to get next to me, but the best part is the reaction from kids! Some people even ask me what kind of car it is.

Brand loyalty? Not me. I like my Gen II Viper and my GT-500 KR too. Guess I am a simpleton. If it hauls ***, looks good, and is fun to drive, I'm good with it.

Thanks. I agree 100% with you. I am not brand loyal at all. Ford, Dodge, Chevy, if it is an awesome car, I want it. Hell of a collection you have there, not to mention that garage is just plain sick!

Thanks everyone and thanks for making me the NoviStretch corvette of the week. The viper is a bad *** machine and I am finding out that the Z06 is as well! I will continue to enjoy her a post up a review when I get above the 500 mile mark. Cheers everyone.

The ONLY reason for this is the sheer numbers of the cars produced. Vettes are 30000s/year, Viper may a few hundreds? IMO the 2nd gen Viper is the best looking, compared to ANY Vette (sorry I'm not one of those who admire the split window Vettes of the 60s) , especially C6 and prior generations. The C7 generation looks exotic, people went crazy taking photos when it was released. Then production ramped up, and the gawk factor decreased. Gen V Viper is nowhere as timeless as the 2nd gen Viper GTS. Just imagine if the C7Z was produced in low quantities as the Gen V Viper, the attention it would get at C & C.

OP, congrats on the car!! Looks great!! To me the GenII ACR Viper is the best one. But then again im a viper guy. I really love all gen vipers. Hopefully soon I will pick up a 99 ACR and park it next to my C5Z. But for me I would hands down rather have ANY viper over a C7Z. But really cant go wrong with either car. Both look great!

Congrats on your new car. You obviously like it more than the viper or you wouldn't have traded the viper in. Everyones tastes are different and I think it's cool that you have the car you want. IMHO I would take take the viper over the C7 every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I've owned vettes for 20 years and currently have a C5Z and a C6Z. A C7 vette will never enter my stable.

I am shocked for the love of the viper over the Vette on a this forum. I definitely think the viper looks better and much more exotic...but the c7 z is a close 2nd and much more versatile.
