Ron Fellows school fast lap and overheating w/A8
This was back on Oct 2-3rd. In this video I was first out following the instructor. At around 4:00 mins, I managed a 1:20 flat (1:17 is instructor record w Z06) overheating happened even after we slowed and swapped leaders etc. (around 9:00 mins on video) I ran in forth only while following, but still overheated. I overheated again at around 14:00. Sorry I didn't edit length, had problems w sound etc w Mac and iMovie? Great school and instructors, much more than I expected.

Thx for sharing! Cool video. But overheating at that speed!!! That's pathetic... not even staying at redline... I am disappointed to see that.

Un-refutable video evidence for the non-believers that the Z06 overheats on track. Instructor is obviously highly experienced in how to keep the session moving by instructing drivers to go slow to cool down the car with cool down laps and driving it in 4th gear only. And to think that there are still people on this forum who believe the car does not overheat on track and that overheating is limited to just some cars and not others, or that overheating is due to some particular driver's and not others.
You would think by now GM would have come up with a solution to fix their overheating most track capable Corvette ever. Tadge should be ashamed of having let that under-engineered car out the door. This is after all at their factory sponsored and recommended school and the cars can't even run 10 minutes without overheating. Car overheats twice in that short video.
I just thought that video was kind of sad. What a way to ruin a track session, running cool down laps every few minutes. And doing the rotation of drivers just also slows things down and lets the cars cool down. Things would be even worse without the car rotations.
I can only hope GM is watching and will determine they need to solve this.

But, there are plenty of positive track reports, from actual owners and drivers, so.....it has been proven that it is NOT every car and every driver.

Porsche/GT drivers joke on the track is that they only need to stay behind for 2-3 laps before they overtake due to the Z's heat issues.
Come on GM!!! Maybe fact is that SC engines are terrible at the track (especially for repeated sessions), they should've just stuck with a N/A motor.

So are these bone stock Z's at fellows?
Why don't they try running water wetter and distilled water? Bigger rads? heat wrap the pipes? Get rid of the cats? Especially if those are track only cars.

My LSA ran all day long at Summit Point (well, 5 sessions). I overheated the rear differential once or twice (well, got a warning anyway), but other than that no issues.
Overheated the PS on my LS6 Gen1 CTSV. Track days can be tough.

Why hasn't someone ask at the track what is in their cars at Fellows?

Nice job on the 1.20 lap!
Again with the PDR, I was very impressed with the sound and visual quality were first rate. I felt like I was in your car and this never ceases to amaze me about the PDR.
Thanks for sharing. Looked like you had fun (other than the overheating).

That's the thing, the ZR1 has a 2.3 blower that isn't spinning super fast to produce power. I think it would be interesting to see if someone threw on the Magnuson Blower with an aftermarket radiator and see how it does vs. a stock Z06.
