Default Memory seats

Does the parking brake have to be on for the memory seats so move into position when starting the car?

Does it have to be set to get them to move to easy exit.

I can't seem to get this to work. What am I doing wrong.

It's not you. They are a total PITA. I've set them so many times, including the exit setting and sometimes it works automatically and sometimes they don't. The seem to have a mind of there own. Sometimes they take you halfway there and even when I manually press and hold the setting button (1 or 2), sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Wish I had better advice to give, but it's no you. I had the same problem on my C6. It's buggy say the least.

Yup, it's the entire memory package that's flawed. Upon exiting it takes me halfway to my saved setting, and sometimes when I manually push the memory button (1 or 2) it moves in increments, every time I push it, it moves everything just a little. It's a bug and I doubt they'll have a fix for it. Oh well, I love the car and I'm willing to deal with stuff like that. It is disappointing - but it's what I expect from a mass-produced GM car. Sad, right? It flies though and handles like a go cart!

The sequence for auto seat movement is: Enter car, push star button for a split second, then seat moves into position. (This assumes you have set it correctly in "settings" to move upon ignition press.

The sequence for exit: stop car, press start button to shut off engine, set parking brake, put car in gear, open door, seat moves to exit position. This assumes that it is set properly in settings to move upon door open.

If any of the above sequence is not followed, the movement will not be automatic; but in these cases, a simple QUICK touch of the appropriate seat button will move the seat into the desired position. The key word here is QUICK touch. If you press and hold the button for any more than a split second, then the movement will be aborted upon release and it will operate in a choppy fashion unless you now HOLD the button until the final seat position is reached.

Hope this helps.

Nope - I'm with everyone else in the thread. It works when it wants to, which is rarely. I have set my memory seats three times today alone. Both buttons. And I still have to manually move the seat back up when the car starts.

I have issues with this as well.
The memory recall is a dice throw. Sometimes it will work perfectly for days and then not at all. The exit position works every time though.

One thing to try if you've set up the exit position is to make sure the seat isn't moved all the way back. If the seat back is touching the carpet it will affect the memory recall. I moved the seat back to its limit and them moved it forward a half inch before setting the memory.

Ford is miles ahead with their electronics for things like this and the entertainment system.
The exit position in my SHO is a factory preset, the seats, pedals and steering column move to their limits automatically, you just have to activate this feature in the driver controls menu. To set the seat memory you just push and hold one of the buttons until it beeps and your done. I've never had to reset a seat memory.
