Default Track Mode help...

On the DIC (Driver Info Center) what does the Red Tire versus Green Tire display indicate...just asking because im away from the car...and i forget to check it when just leaving the garage....

Also...here is one that caught me off guard....

I tend to like the Track Mode setting when i'm on some smooth back roads..i even set it to DRY, which still has StabliTrack and Traction Control available....(even though the lights on instruments are ON which would indicate the STrac and TC systems would be OFF...the manual indicates the systems still function)...anyway.....after stopping for dinner (tires cooled presumably) after exiting the parking lot, maybe 100ft down the road, i pulled the shifter down to M, as Automatic started shifting up gears that i did not want....i throttled up (what i thought was "slightly") and the rear end stepped out to the Left (drivers side) what seems like 2 to 4ft then recovered as i released the throttle.....but...anyone have any idea....should the TC stepped in here and "saved me" for the wide step out the car did ?

Yup, yellow is warm. They should have used blue for cold to not confuse the issue.

TC and AH systems will not save you on these cars at low speeds. I'm not sure why, perhaps there is not enough wheel speed data available to the computers, or maybe the system needs a prior history of yaw inputs to correct something. Either way, it is almost absent. This is nothing new... my C6s were like this also.

Generally, I would never count on the car's nannies to take over vehicle dynamics. They are nice to have around as a safety net, but that's about it. There is an enormous amount of power and especially torque here and it has to be respected and learned.

I recall reading somewhere that the AH and TC will only come in to save you if the steering angle is above normal. This is when the AH and TC will kick in and reduce power to keep you on the road. If the steering angle is within the normal range, it is up to the driver to keep it on the road. Hope this makes some sense.

I agree 100% - I guess I felt the need for intervention when I need it not when the electronics think I do....and in this scenario it real seemed like the TC should have kicked it - but thinking back it was obviously a wee too much throttle, cold tires, chilled pavement, downshifting (I did paddle down) and steering tweaked Left that combined in that one moment to put a small Hershey Stripe in my BVD's 😀

StabiliTrak and traction control help, but it won't always save you. Here is a video of my wife spinning the Stingray in Track/Sport1 mode, where both are still turned on. (at about 42 seconds into the video)

rd16rr: You're in PTM mode with 'Dry' selected/lights on. Have you tried just selecting Track mode but NOT going into PTM mode - Dry(or whichever/pushing button twice) and keeping the nannies engaged? Page 9-44 in the manual, "Comp. Driving Mode" - ..."drivers who prefer the system to have more control...are advised to turn the normal TC and SC on".

oh yea...definitely have....i just re-read the guide about the Cup-2's and they are not at all advised to be used for lower temps (lower than 50) and i tend to believe it....but when it stepped out (as far as it did) i did not feel TC activate....and i was a lil surprised that it didn't....
