NAV/PDR... anyone have regrets NOT adding it?
Hi guys... I'm on the final stages before I put my order in and wanted to get your feedback. It's a $1800 option but to be quite honest with you, with all the cars I've owned, I've had NAVI..but never really used it. I found my iPhone was best for me to get around.. I never had any great experiences with Onboard NAV. Any regrets not getting NAV w/ the PDR option?? Just wanted to hear your thoughts...

I bought a Stingray and did not have the Nav/PDR. I traded that and got a Z06 with the Nav and PDR and love it. Not so much for the Nav, but for the PDR. I enjoy the feedback and data it gives me using it at track events or if I just want to take some video.

I opted out of the the NAV/PDR.
I never use NAV in any of my other cars, the phone works just fine for me.
There are times when I think a PDR would be cool but I don't track the car so I really don't think I'd use but once or twice.
IMHO if you track it then the PDR is the way to go, you'll never be able to get a recording of your performance with as much detailed info any other way. If you're not tracking then it's just another gadget that you'll most likely never use.

I got it solely because of the PDR but find now that having Nav integrated into the dash and window is a huge plus. Don't track but PDR is handy now and then. Could this have been better served with a GoPro and iPad for Nav...probably and the video would have been much better.
Would I still get it if I were to order again? Yup.

Don't skimp of the NAV/PDR. They are both great.

Basically, you get a great price on a Performance Data/Video Recorder (check the price to provide the same capability and ease of use with aftermarket sources) and they throw the NAV into boot. A few years from now when GM is no longer making the C7 and Nav Data updates are no longer available (last one for C6 was provided in 2013 and is out of date) the NAV will become pretty much useless but the PDR wil still be a great thing to have.

One little perk that I've come to love with the pdr/nav is the ability to display the speed limit in the hud for whatever road you're on. A foolish little thing but it makes it so easy to see how often you exceed the speed limit, which is almost 100 percent of the time with this car. But only by a few mph of course. And yes, I realize this is the nav and not the pdr providing this information, but you don't get one without the other.

To be honest, I'm actually relieved I didn't get the Nav option. It's so ridiculously expensive for what it is especially bearing in mind that mine is (and yours will be) a 2016 which includes Apple Carplay. Plug your phone in and you've got full Apple Maps navigation on your screen.
Can't comment on PDR since I haven't tried it.

Get it if you're not going to keep the car more than 5 years, I'd say. In six years it'll look REALLY dated, as did my 2007 Z when I traded it in.
When I bought my 2003 M3 I figured "I'm going to keep this car a while", and I still have it, and am glad I don't have a 2003 NAV in there!
But if you're like most of us and this is a car you'll be in 5 years or less, get it. It's a great feature, the PDR is very cool, and you can't add it later if you regret it.

I custom ordered mine and didn't go with the NAV/PDR option because like several others have said, I didn't think I would be using the NAVI portion since the cellphone is better at it anyways.
Well I've already started to have regrets. The PDR is something that I would like to have in certain cases. Will be useful for the track no doubt once break-in is finished, but also useful to just record while going on scenic drives on backroads and to document awesome segments of long road trips. But then again, $1800 buys an entire new set of tires too.

I have a Z06 without PDR and I really regret it. Definitely get the PDR. I don't know about the NAV. I tried ONStar and the iPhone is so much better, I never use ONStar to go anywhere.

The PDR is a definite YES in my book. I have used it a number of times to record a nice drive in the forest and it's great fun to go back and look at. While I haven't tracked MY car, I recorded EVERY session at Spring Mountain and have REALLY enjoyed going back and looking at the data.... especially with the Cosworth Toolbox.
As for the Nav, I am very disappointed in Chevrolet's implementation in the Corvette. I have several Garmin units and their graphics as well as human interface makes the one in the corvette look very "amateurish". I truly am amazed that with the technology out there, they didn't partner with someone like Garmin and make the Nav KILLER! I keep hoping for an update that will make it a real navigation device......... (I know, Fat Chance has one "F" and two "C's".) I often use the nav on my phone instead of the one in the car.

Looks like I am in the minority here.......mine came with the PDR and NAV and I wish it didn't. The NAV is much better than the ones I had in the C6's (at least this one works most of the time, although I have only used a half dozen times). However, to be safe, if we really need NAV we just use the one on my wife's phone. I will never use the PDR. I used it once just to ensure it worked, but other than that I can't see myself ever using it. If it were me I would rather put the money toward (1) the front camera, (2) some nice all season tires, (3) Apsis splash guards---which are a must in any event if you want to avoid road debris damage along the bottom sides of your new car---order them and have them installed before you leave the dealer's lot, and (4) Xpel.
Having said that, my kids think I am crazy that i don't use the PDR.
Congratulations on your new car---drive it and enjoy it! best of luck with it.

I have it on mine and use it. I use my phone for NAV just because it is always updated. The PDR is just cool to use. If you are trying to keep the cost down and are not going to track it I wouldn't get it.
