Hey guys, I'll be heading to Spring Mountain in February and just had a quick question. I have an A8 C7Z now and although I can drive a stick, I'd prefer to learn on an A8. Do I have any choice when it comes to this or do I drive whatever they tell me? Just curious.

You should ask now, if others put in their request before you, you might miss out.
Somewhat off topic, but does anyone know if the special Z06 class pricing applies for 2016 models? It doesn't state it on their website so I hope so. I emailed them but have not yet heard back.

My own opinion is to drive the M7. I also have an A8, but am quite adept with a manual on-track. If you can drive an M7 well on-track, an A8 is a piece of cake.
Have fun!

When you register, tell them you want to dirve an A8 Z06

I am going 4-5 Jan. Was told you are matched with the car you have by your VIN which they take. I was also told they don't let you drive A8 in auto, but rather paddle, although I cannot verify this... Not a paddle guy but we will see. Got my GoPro, a few SD cards, camera and ready to go!

You can drive whatever you want, as long as it is available. I registered to drive an auto(which I did 90% of the time). I asked to drive a stick for a few laps, and they accomidated me.
Very hospitable folks. As mentioned above you drive a like car that you own based on your VIN, However when I attended I was in a Z07 not a Z06. As far as the shoes I wore a pair of Cole Haan driving shoes. Anything with a flat sole you will not be disappoint in. No need to buy racing shoes. I feel sure you will not regret your experience.
Just to confirm here...racing shoes and driving shoes are two different things.
Racing shoes are required to be FIA/SFI approved (will be subject to equipment inspection from various racing organizations) and run from ~$100 on the low end for a pair of SFI-approved shoes to close to $500 for a upper end pair of FIA-approved Alpine Stars or similar.
Driving shoes have no certification, and are pretty similar to a great many casual shoes with a flat sole, rounded heel/side and often have a protection patch on the outside of the right shoe to protect from wear against the gas pedal. These can be bought starting in the $50 and up range. A pair of Sparco Time 77's (what I have) are ~$70-80, or less than a decent pair of sneakers.
Just FWIW...
