New Z06....Black or Gray Wheels? HELP!!
Pulled the trigger on buying a new 2016 Z06 coupe this evening. It'll be ordered from the factory rather than taking anything off the lot. Couldn't drive it now if I wanted, weather sucks! Ordering a black Z06 coupe and can't decide whether to get the black or gray painted wheels. Interior could be black or gray, as well, haven't decided that either. I haven't been able to find any pictures anyplace that show me the black coupe with gray wheels, although have seen a bunch with black wheels. Can anyone help me out with some pictures?? Really appreciate it if you can....thanks!!

A personal opinion, the Spectra Grays for three reasons. One the Grays have a bright machined perimeter groove, which differentiates where the wheel starts and the tire ends; and, second, the Spectra Gray has metallic (which the black wheels do not), and it's metallic matches up with the carbon flash metallic vents/grilles (and CFZ factory skirts and splitter beautifully); and three, it is not just me, but I am truly amazed how many folks who love and have black C7 Z06 wheels, who come up to me, and once they look at my wheels, say, "wish I ordered those."
Spectra Gray is a very dark Charcoal Gray, and thus if you love black wheels you will love this color too, yet just enough differentiation for you to notice that it.

For a black coupe, which I have, I do think the black wheels are a perfect match (ie, 1a). You can tell it was purposeful as the paint is a spot on match, usually the blacks clash if you buy aftermarket black rims. That said, 1b is spec gray. It's such a close race that I will eventually order a set of spec gray wheels for a different tire configuration. Track and street, for instance.
I think for a black vert the spec gray is 1a, as you get the match with the gray or even black interior assuming that is what most order.

This is great, guys....thanks very much!! I like the spectra gray for all the reasons "elegant" stated. Hope I can get that changed. Think I'll stay with black interior, but those wheels look super!

Agree, I had Black wheels on Stingray Cyber Gray! Now have TSG Z06 with Spectra gray. Like them much better & think they would be great
on Black Z!

I was told the Spectra Gray wheel is a perfect match to Carbon Flash. I just ordered my Shark Gray vert with the spectra Gray wheels. Either way with a black car you can't go wrong!

I had Specter Gray on my 15 Z06, but went with chrome on my current 16 Z06. Both cars Arctic White. It seems to be that guys over 50 like chrome and guys under 50 like black. That's just a generalization from many different age friends of mine.

Thomasmoto, thanks for the compliment...you made my day. I'll be 69 in 2 months and I'm the guy questioning black or spectra gray! Well, to all of the forum members who responded to this thread, thank you very much, your input was greatly appreciated. On my end, a communications error between the dealer and myself surfaced (I need to be politically correct like Mr. Trump!) and the car was ordered last evening (black on black coupe) with black wheels. The dealer G/M is doing his very best to have that changed to the Spectra Gray wheels, which he now clearly understands is what I wanted. Truthfully, I was VERY unhappy when I got the word this morning, literally 12 hours after the order was booked with GM-Chevrolet, but I'm told in today's world one minute after the deadline is "too late". The end of this chapter has the dealer G/M filing an appeal to modify the order to the Spectra Gray wheels, the outcome of which I should know next Tuesday, but there appears to be a 50/50 chance I can get it changed. I believe I made a respectable deal and I would prefer to deal with this dealership because of their personnel (Sales & Service) and the location, but the issue of not getting what I wanted weighs heavily on me. Not that it matters and this is simply my personal opinion, I find it amazingly arrogant on the part of the GM hierarchy to refuse to allow an order modification within 24 hours of order entry. Heck, the car won't be built for 6 weeks+, is the science of their "just in time" parts supplying so out of body overwhelming that modifying an order within 24 hours will completely F-up the works? Considering that this vehicle model stands close to the top of the GM hierarchy, I would have thought the prospective new owner might get a hall pass on this regulation. Maybe I will, really hope so....you all convinced me (very well, I might add!) that these wheels would look the best on my new Z06! Thank you, everyone!!
