Sometimes when a supercar crashes, there are hopes for the machine to get the required servicing attention and return to the road. This, however, isn't one of those cases.
Alas, all hope is lost for this 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C7.R, with the vehicle having been involved in a brutal crash in Texas.
The details of the accident are scarce, but we can tell you the special 'Vette was totaled in Katy, TX. It appears the Chevy had left the dealer lot hours before the accident and was on its way to having its windows tinted.
Well, as you'll be able to see in the footage below, not only did the Z06 fail to get protected against the Texas sun but the accident the supercar was involved in makes it look like it fell inside the shredder.
Any Corvette crash is painful, but when you think the world now has one Z06 C7.R, things are even more cringe-worthy. As those of you following the 'Vette world know, General Motors is only gifting the world with 650 units of this special edition, 500 of which are destined for US driveways.
That means one less American driver will get to enjoy the charms of the C7.R endurance racer-inspired machine.
Since the LT4 under the hood of the "standard" Z06 already delivers a meaty 650 hp and 650 lb-ft, the tech changes offered by this special edition target the rest of the car. Goodies such as the Z07 Performance Package and carbon-ceramic brakes are included on the menu.
Even in this terrible state, you can still recognize the Z06 C7.R thanks to visual treats such as the signature yellow livery we've all seen on Corvette Racing Machines.
Our favorite bits include the exposed carbon aero package, as well as the yellow accent black wheels. And here we are, thinking about the spare parts that can be saved like cold-blooded disassemblers.

With a few extra decals.
No faster or anything better than a regular loaded Z07.
Too bad for the owner or driver.
Gotta respect the powe. Cannot just lay on the gas.
If you do, this is what can happen.

And I thought it was bad enough when a dealership porter let my Corvette roll into a curb, breaking my splitter! Ouch!

The dealer has insurance for this. My friend Harvey the Lawyer says the dealers insurance co. will likely try to settle for the sale price less salvage value. But, he says he can recover damages as well as the total price, tax, tag and tiltle as well as his fees by pleading the car was a limited edition collector car which is no longer available. Still, that is not a fight I want to have.

One reason I do not use a Dealer for anything EXCEPT big things that will cost me money. Oil changes things like that -- forget it.

I wonder if it fell off a higher platform onto it's roof? I wouldn't expect a halo bar to cave in a typical roll-over, but if you skate it off a parkade level down a floor, that'd do it.
I saw that happen at our Acura dealer, of all things. It happens. And if they guy didn't want the dealership driving it, he should have taken it himself. Sad to see the car wrecked though!

Was sold by Westside Chevy. Smh. Saw that car too (or one just like it) before I bought mine. I always buy any Chevy that I buy from Mac Haik anyways. Not that that has anything to do with this. Just saying. Look, I by no means am a professional driver. I've just now been playing with my Z06 with TC off now. This guy obviously had TC off. But anyhow, I've been playing with tC off the past couple of days. The car isn't that bad to handle. I've kept the *** end completely out, in line, up to 60mph and felt in total control. For you to get this out of whack means you basically were 100% throttle down with TC off. Just my opnion of course.

Here lies the difference between us (enthusiasts) and the majority of the motoring public. I cant imagine buying a Z or any car for that matter, signing the paperwork then tossing the keys to god knows who to take care of something as simple as a tint job.
Its beyond comprehension that a dealership would toss a set of keys to a kid that likely has no experience with a car that has the power that these cars have.
