Thoughts on DA and 60 ft
just left the drag strip. it is an 1/8 mile track. i am extremely green when it comes to drag racing ( learning though). i do have some mods and drag radials. tires were sticking like glue. a8 car. best time was 1.71 60 ft, 7.02 1/8 mile. i used launch control on most passes. did a few passes without launch control and had about the same results. i expected better. da was 1576 . would the da make a reasonable difference or is it simply my inexperience?
Thanks,
Kevin

Using a 1/4 from 1/8th mile conversion calculator:
Your 1/4 Mile ET is 11.05 seconds computed from your vehicle 1/8th ET of 7.02 seconds.
Your 1/4 Mile MPH is 129.41 MPH computed from your vehicle 1/8th MPH of 104.36 MPH.
So, sounds like it would be good for 11.05@130 roughly. You'd need a 6.98 to break into the equivalent of 10s, and that's not far away!

Don't know if true or not but a member posted that an 875 change in DA is worth a tenth/1mph in the 1/4 one way or the other.
JMHO:
If your sticken then better air will improve overall power which will improve everything including 60 fts. Also If your sticken I feel "not" using the launch control will improve 60 fts. more. Try a 2200 launch to begin with, than experiment up and down some to see what works best for you. Also roll in enough to "just" light the second stage bulb for best 60 fts.
Oh, I have never tried this myself but sometimes due to weather, gas, etc. your computer may of reduced/pulled performance, so disconnecting the battery for a minute or so will re-boot the computer which may improve performance. May be worth a try, up to you.
I like track mode with one push of the center button to just turn "traction control" off in "D" with my A8.
You should list you mods, you may get some more suggestions.
EDIT: It has been my experience that the calculators with pressurized cars are not always right on, just look at the posted time slip in this thread. All things considered that 104 mph is hauling a$$.

Just my opinion, but I'd say given your 7.02 1/8mi time and the MPH of 104+, that run would've definitely been in the 10's. The time slip listed above ran a 7.04 (slower) and 100mph (slower) and ran 10.9s. I'd say you're probably running 10.7 to 10.9s. I have an all stock M7 and have run 11.4 (DA 2350) so far and my 1/8th time was 7.52s at 98mph.
You're 1/2 second quicker and 6mph faster...so it's extremely reasonable to think you'd take .5 to .7s off of that time. I know DA plays a big roll...but it looks like you already have an 'easy' 10s car...Slightly better launch, better DA, I'd say mid to low 10s. Just my opinion though.

I'm going to Orlando Speed World this coming Saturday and hope for some 10 sec slips as well. They are having a big night street car race, so DA should be pretty good. I'll post as soon as I can.

But yes, DA can definitely have an effect on sixty foot times...a lower DA should definitely help lower that sixty foot (and ultimately ETs) a bit. The unfortunate part is, a really really great DA can also potentially hurt your sixty foots as well. In my area two days ago, the DA was roughly -4500 which sounds good 'on paper', but the -10 degree temps that came with it sure would make finding any traction a real chore in a 600+rwhp Corvette LOL. So there is of course 'a point of diminishing returns' so to speak.
