Default Vent cleaning

I just purchased my z06 a few weeks ago but I was recently reading a post where I mouse got inside someone's differential intake And I became curious about buildup over time. Does anyone know if it would be possible to maintain these vents on your own or if it's something that GM would need to take care of? Particularly the two rear vents.

I caught a small fish in the Air intake of a 4X4 after a few blasts through the levee waters. So, I guess weird stuff does happen from time to time.

if maint. is your problem then you should get a set of "Wheel Woolies". The smaller brushes fit in the vents of my 06 Z06. Unless its different these vents are used for brake cooling and there isn't any obstruction. They can be got at Auto-Geek

If you use the car on a regular basis I doubt a mouse will try to crawl through the vent grille to make a nest. However, the grille is removable and you could get in there to clean any debris away from the cooling system. I would think if a car is outdoors on a regular basis where there are Maple Trees (or something similar) that a lot of debris could get into the vents in the spring when the seeds start falling off the trees. I know at my house in upstate NY the driveway and sidewalk would be covered by the tiny helicopters. In the fall when the leaves fell the stems often broke off and they could easily go through the grille. If you add the Z06 grille scoops that would shelter the intakes to some degree but wouldn't totally stop things from getting into the vents.

I took a drive one time and had issues with grasshoppers getting jammed in there. Looked like a damn Alfred Hitchcock movie. When I stopped, I had small piles of grasshoppers in the wheels that had been directed by the vents. While this occurred up front, I did not have any issues with the rear vents.

Small debris that gets past the rear vent grilles probably won't be visible from outside the car. It will be down inside the vent lodged against the coolers which are near the bottom of the rear quarter panel. Just in front of the rear fascia cooling outlets.

He probably wanted to take it for a spin.

However I would worry he had a lead foot.
