Default Bugs everywhere.

What is your technique for debugging your car?

Soap and scrubbing is not cutting it.

'Bug and tar remover' should work well. Then you should add some wax afterwards, as many of these products will strip it off.

I have Xpel on the front and keep it waxed. Nothing sticks to that as long as I wipe it off (Quick-detailer) fairly soon after the bugs are hit.

I have xpel also and love it for the same reason. The OP didn't say if he had it or not though...I'm guessing not if the front of his car looks like Jim Carrey's teeth after riding his motorcycle in 'Me, Myself, & Irene'

Place soaked wet towel on the area for ten minutes to hydrate the bugs. Wipe off. Works great, I done this for years.

You can buy "bug sponges" that have a nylon type material over a regular sponge....most of the discount auto parts chain stores carry them. I've used them on my black Vipers and M/B's and they really don't scratch the paint, amazingly enough! If you use a liquid car soap, pour a small amount on one of these bug sponges and the dried up carcasses will be removed immediately. It doesn't seem to do any significant damage to the wax, probably does a little, but no where near the "Bug & Tar" remover stuff. I hate those bugs so much, I just don't drive any of my toys at night unless I have to, which irritates the crap out of my wife....HA! In fact, she was po'd at me when I took that avatar shot, probably for that reason!

Try a dryer sheet. Soak it in your wash bucket, and then scrub off bugs. They have just enough texture to provide enough friction to remove the bugs.

I've been using them for years with zero issues to the paint.

This is the answer! Bounce dryer sheets work wonders for bugs. Changed my life in terms of how long I spent scrubbing the front of my cars.

I do a lot of road trips so cleaning the bugs off is a daily routine. After driving 400-500 miles each day, every evening after we have dinner(and the front of the car has been parked in the shade, if possible) I get my 7" tall plastic stool out, and sit down and clean the bugs off. I use Windex and an old towel normally, but sometimes I use Dawn and water(using the ice bucket for the Dawn/water and the plastic wastepaper basket for the rinse water from the motel room).

I then apply spray detailer, to make it slippery for the next days drive.

I don't do it to a hot car or in the sun.

Before I leave home, I do apply a coat of ReJex, but the Dawn will strip it off, if used during the trip.

I have been known to do a quick nose clean during a gas or lunch stop during the day, especially if the bugs are really bad that day. I normally clean the windshield at that time.

When I get home a week or two later, I do a complete wash using Dawn, then using ultra fine polishing compound, I polish the nose of the car, and then apply a coat of Rejex.

Try Griots Bug and Smudge remover. They also make a Bug Barrier as a shield. Here in Fl we have love bugs twice a year that will ruin your paint or scar your Xpel etc if left in place a couple of days. Extremely hard to remove. This stuff works great for them so I'm sure will do you good.

Griots stuff has a tremendous reputation....probably is everything that docf says. I've heard the dryer sheets solution many times over the years, tried it and it didn't do sh*t for me...felt like I was rubbing that shiny black front end with a piece of sandpaper! Gurneyeagle says to wet it first then rub away with it....I never heard that part, heck maybe that's what I was doing wrong! As for Dawn, I'd stay away from that. That is what many dealer's use to strip the wax from a car...a bucket of Dawn dish soap and water....take the wax off, like right now! So you got a couple of probably good solutions...I'm sticking with my bugg sponge and a dab of liquid car soap. Good luck!

I tried the damp used dryer sheet, I happened to walk by the laundry machine and it was sitting in my clean laundry hamper. It worked surprisingly well. I did it AFTER thoroughly washing the car. It left a little soapy residue, that i merely wiped off with a terrycloth towel. I am a believer... Totally non abrasive, left no marks at all, and the bugs came right off.

Bug and tar remover is awesome. Btw, is your car yellow? Bugs seems to love yellow. Sounds strange but I noticed that at a couple of Corvette corrals at LRP. The yellow cars always seemed to attract more bugs than the other colors

I applied CQuartz and saw how good it worked on the Z so I also used it on the Harley. Here's a video I sent to friends who also ride after they complained about cleaning bugs off the bikes. They all ordered it also.
