Damn...This is the only place where I've heard people say the Viper is ugly, or a clown shoe, or some other disparaging remark! To each his own, I guess! Anyone I've ever talked to thinks they are drop dead head turning beautiful cars. Maybe I need to get out more!!

The vintage mustang forum is the place to go for real viper hate but those guys seem to hate a lot of cars that aren't mustangs made prior to 1971.

And everything to do with the Ricer Sounding V10.

I think it's a very form over function style car, but then that's what the viper is! What looks better and ACR or a P1? Well the P1 obviously. But I would not call the viper ugly per say. Esp if you like the functional race car looks.
And I thought this thread was about fast cars not pretty ones! Lol

Doesn't really matter, the chances of any single one of us encountering any Viper let alone an ACR at the track are small. Viper production is 1/30 of Corvette's production and they are few and far between at the track. As of Sept 2015 Chrysler had only produced 30,000 Vipers total since production started in 1992. At that time there were more 2015 Corvettes (34,000) on the road than there all years of Vipers together. Whether one beats a Corvette on the track really doesn't matter much because it is similar to a tree falling in the forest with nobody around to hear it. Is there any sound under those conditions?

Unless y'all are both licensed, fully-raced prepped and in a w2w race it's just bench racing....just saying. Go out, drive, have fun! Remember, there's ALWAYS someone/something faster than you! On the racing note, it will be interesting to see if folks do race-prep the new Viper, curious if it will run in GT2 with SCCA or ?

It's because there is an enormous amount of insecurity among some who post in this section of the forum.

Here is a sweet 9-second all-motor ricer, with a warranty. Sounds okay to me, especially with the cam lope.

This, this is what a real 9 second car should sound like on all motor.
I like fast cars. Yes the Viper is fast...but it doesn't sound good. No matter what someone does with a Big Displacement V10 it will never sound as good as a V8.
That's my literal only gripe withe Viper. Is that horrid engine. Stuff a Hellcat between the fenders and my opinion of the Viper would be a totally different story.

IMO the most accurate comparison is with factory drivers and support. Based on that the ACR is about 2-3 seconds faster at Road Atlanta. To cover that some Hoosiers a tune and exhaust. Fairly sure that will cover it at most any track. IMO the Corvette is a superior chassis, but GM hasnt made the same level of commitment to speed at the expense of streetability. This conversation is about performance. Take the Viper is ugly comments to the waxer/butthurt section.

I also own a 1970 Chevelle SS 454. I would agree that nothing sounds better than a BBC. But, I also don't think a cammed Viper is "awful", it is just different. That blue Viper I posted turns an 8.4L engine to 7K rpm, and makes 660 rwhp all-motor. If someone can't appreciate that, then I'd have to question someone's level of car craziness.
Not trying to single anyone out and not talking about anyone in particular.

Viper easily. The auto will overheat quickly. It's not intended for track use. Even if it didn't overheat there is no chance it would make a significant improvement.
Also that "god awful ugly wing" is functional aero. You're either insecure or purely into car parades. It looks fantastic to me because I appreciate function and actually driving a car for it's intended purpose.
Op- put on slicks and more aggressive aero. As long as the car stays cool and doesnt reduce power you will be competitive to the ACR.

There is probably only one mod needed to beat the acr, in the referenced Motor Trend article you are thinking of the the acr that beat a manual equipped Z06 by 3 seconds if I remember on the track, pick yourself up an Auto equipped Z06 and you will probably beat the acr.
