Default A8 question

Anyone heard anything about higher torque levels causing the trans computer to tell the engine to go to reduced power mode at the 3-4 shift?
Just curious what that number might be or even if it's true at all.

I've heard that same rumor, but have no idea if it's true. I haven't looked into it as I have an M7.

Hopefully some of the A8 guys will chime in.

OP, does it happen in the fully automatic shift mode or in the Manual paddle shifting mode, or both?

I looked at a few logs and here is an example of torque in 3rd and then right after shift to 4th, I do not see any evidence of reduced power mode:

3rd gear

4th gear

I think in the fully auto mode. Not sure if paddle shifting is the same.
Anyone out there that's modded their Z run across this?

As I stated above with the picture of logs I have not seen this, what are you feeling on the shift? My car has a Halltech intake so its making 45-50 more rwhp than stock. Are you getting a check engine light? Anything to make you think its reducing power tremendously?

Thx but I'm talking about modded cars making in the 770+ torque range at the flywheel. No issues with the stock or just CAI mods.
Rumor has it that some reprogramming is needed.
Anyone?

This is correct if heavily modded your TQ tables will have to be modified in the tune.

I don't have an A8. But I am sure you are bumping into the TQ limit if you are highly modded. If I recall in HP Tuners you can see there are TQ limits set for each gear on the M7. I am sure limits are there for the A8 as well. I think Ktoonsez has an A8 and may be able to see this in his editor under the TQ management tab.

But yes there are all sorts of protections in the PCM that limit TQ, RPM and HP to ensure longevity of the drivetrain.
