Default Delay on TPW??

Guys,

My dealer put my order through on 3/2 and as of this morning there is no TPW assigned? Not sure if you've experienced this delay.

My order isn't anything unique-

2LZ Z06
Torch Red
Comp Seats (Jet Black w/Suede Inserts)
MicroFiber Steering
PDR
Auto
Black Wheels

As of this morning, I am status # 2000, Order accepted by GM but no TPW assigned.

Thanks!

What is your current order status? It has been mentioned before but just because the dealer submits the order does not mean they actually have an allocation.

TPW will come shortly. Time varies from a few days to a couple of weeks If there are no constraints.

Mine was ordered on Jan. 29, order accepted by GM Feb. 11, received a TPW 10 days after acceptance and my Laguna blue Z06 came off the line on March 8. I scheduled a museum pickup near the end of the month and this feels like the longest part of the waiting period for me now that it is built.

I waited until I had a VIN. You usually have a few weeks after the car is built before delivery to get the financing sorted out.

FYI I discovered that Chevy's financing company, Ally, only holds an approval for 28 days. So I am waiting until delivery is less than a month away. By contrast, BMW Finance holds an approval for 60 days, plenty of time to order a car from Germany.--Bob

A lot of banks have a simple pre-approval process and then once you are close to delivery they will "close" the loan for you. I was undecided whether to pay cash or not for my Z06 however my credit union offered a very low rate so I am betting I will do better on investments over the next 5 years than the low interest rate charged and there is no early payoff penalty if the economy goes the wrong direction. I also got my insurance quote before ordering which is a good idea.

I did pre-approval over the phone before I finalized the order and then I was in and out of the office in under 10 minutes to pick up the check to FedEx to MacMulkin.

Make sure that you are willing to put enough down that your financial institution doesn't require you to add gap insurance because it is these sorts of add-ons that can really bump up the effective borrowing rate.
