Had my first run in with a Hellcat.
Not too eventful. No PDR, nor was he ever in front.
Had a few light to light runs, I'm A8 and he was a manual. I was gone, he was tire smoke. Then I went easy, he got traction and I pulled hard on his shift. Then I hit Traction control and left the scene as we did this between the Sheriff's Station and the CHP office on Madison Avenue.

Nice. A good friend of mine bought an auto hell cat a couple of weeks ago. I drove it with all the nannies on. It was pretty fast but I was not impressed. Might just be me but my vette feels way faster. We will run them here in the near future.....Thanks for the post.
Yes, but there will always be those who live and die for their Corvettes...or whichever car they happen to own at the time! I think the H/C is a great car! And I love my Z!

I had a Hellcat Charger A8 for a bit. Although it did not seem as quick as the Z while driving it, it definitely was. If you look at the times from the strip, the half mile and mile events, it is basically a tie with the Z06. It all boils down to driver. I had to launch in 2nd gear in the Hellcat or smoke the tires horribly. I think the Cat feels slower because the feeling of driving the car is dampened a lot more.
As said, two totally different cars. I just picked up a hellcat. If all I wanted was performance and style, the Z06 hands down. But the Hellcat is just is so comfortable, easy to get in and out, great retro looks, sounds great and is a blast to drive. But you can't overcome physics, 1000 pounds is a 1000 pounds.

Agreed. Both great cars for different target audiences and to be used for different purposes.
The HC is an incredibly fun car. It is the ultimate cruiser.
I can't believe the jump in performance in 10-12 years: the SVT Cobra, GTO, Z06 had slightly over half the power over today's beasts. It's nuts
Hey OP, First of all I am a pure chevy guy thru and thru, but to compare a A8 ZO6 to a manual Hellcat isn't even fair. Try that with two equally competent manual drivers in there manual cars and now you have some bragging rights. Hell, I have a manual base C7 and give a friends manual 662 horse GT500 a hard time. We both mess around on factory rubber to keep it fair.
Interesting article I read in AUTOMOBILE mag today. Claims with the swing in gas prices FIAT or the foreign parents of Dodge is discontinuing the 200 and the dart to concentrate on SUVs and Pickups. Says no one is buying cars anymore or the volumes they need. Proposed that the sports cars will be abandoned next.

The Hellcat is basically a drag strip car and the Z06 a road race car
However the Z06 can still beat a Hellcat in it's own strength on the strip or at least be equal and on a road course there is no comparison the Z06 win hands down all the time
If you are talking abuot the "cool factor" again no way the dodge can compete with America's sport car the C7

The Hellcat is awesome. It just didn't feel fast but I know it is. Because of it's size and weight I am sure. I have a CTS-V also and it feels the same after driving the Z. I am pretty confident the Z will pull it pretty good. I will post our results when we get a chance to play. Good times to have all of these car's and options available to us. Many good car's out there to buy.
