Default 5th gear struggle in the Automatic Z06

Hi every one,

I have noticed that my car shifts super fast & performs great from 1st to 4th gear. But, when it shifts to 5th the RPM drops to 5K & the car becomes slower at reaching higher speeds. Is this normal? & if yes, what can be done to improve performance up top?

5th at WOT is 125 - 165 so my guess is you are starting to enjoy aero drag. If your running stage 2 or 3 wickers, pull them off and you will certainly be faster straight line.

Another vote for aero being what you are feeling. And many different mods can address that for you if you desire that path. Remember life is too short to drive a "stock" car.

Weird cuz I was lookin for th same answer I'm lookin to get a A8 or M7 and wonder if the M7 is faster once that a8 gets in to 5th or is the a8 to far ahead about a time the M7 could catch it lol

I'm thinkin a intake and headers and tune will improve that 5th on these A8's

Certainly A pulley will help it tho

I've tried roll racing my buddy who has a stage 3 M7 from 50-180 Mph & we were dead even. I think if he had stage 1 aero it would have been different.

The struggle is real.

5th is where the A8 gear reduction is gone, the high drag aero downforce is taking its toll, the ignition timing is low, the COT is maxed out, the coolant temp is rising, and the "KR" is coming on strong.

So maybe the M7 is faster if both with stage 1 I wonder if a tune A8 will pull M7 stock both stage 1 aero

When the C7Z gets the A10 the rpm drop will be less and will continue to pull harder. Increasing aero drag will always be a factor at this speed especially with spoilers as opposed to wings that create more downforce with less drag.

I will try racing a stage 1 M7 & post results. I'm waiting on a friend to finish the brake in & we'll see.

I hope i can find another solution. I came across a guy who has an Intake + Tune on his Z & he said 5th gear never changed

Nice

Let us no cuz I'm waiting to find out which one to get Lol the thing we really need to find out is if the M7 pulls the A8 when it' gets in 5th Gear if it pulls or comes up on it

Just installed the Stage II rear spoiler on my car. Like the way it looks. I don't race or drive that fast on the street, so I'm not concerned about drag. I can see where it would have an adverse affect at higher speeds.

Tadge has already said multiple times the A10 is not coming to the C7Z because it doesn't fit.

, you have a 2.41 or something rear end accompanied by a very long 5th gear in the a8. The only thing you can do to overcome this is add power, and lots of it. A gear change isn’t available for our cars yet. Or that would be your answer.

This has been a long know issue I wouldn’t call it an issue but more of an annoyance.
