WTF.... service brakes worn

A number of cars now have had sensor-related (we assume) issues with the DIC warning coming up. In some cases new pads fixed it, in others I don't know, but it was a trip to the dealer.
Since it's a useful signalling system and an annoying one once active, looks like a trip to the dealer. But if it were me I'd look first to see how much pad is left. You don't want them doing a brake job at your expense because they didn't investigate closely enough to see that there was plenty of meat left (if that's the case) and that is must be a sensor issue.

As has been mentioned, it's almost certainly a sensor problem. Here's a picture of some totally runout ZR1 pads (essentially identical to our C7 Z07 pads - the sensors are exactly the same at the pad end, but the connector is different). These pads had a lot of street and track miles on them!
There's a front and rear pad, and you can see where the sensor is worn down which opens the circuit and puts the message on the instrument display.
You can also see a new sensor that isn't worn at all.
So....when any place in the wiring from the sensor to the brake module gets an open circuit, you'll get the message.
In addition to a worn pad that allows the sensor to be ground open, a loose connector or broken wire anywhere will cause the message to pop up.
With such low miles and no tracking you most likely have a sensor with a loose connection or broken wire. But, get them checked.

It is, and while I hope to get that many on this new set I sort of doubt I will. These were the first 10 track days in the new car, I started off way more cautious about everything than I ever was in my C6 even tho this is a much more capable car, because it's also a much more expensive one.
Just guessing, but I wouldn't be surprised if half of the brake wear came about in the last three track days. My confidence in the car has built to where I am hitting the brakes much much later and stabbing them way harder than when I first got the car. My buddy with a 911 and similar skill levels says he sees my brake lights finally come on entering some turns at about the point where he's starting to lift off his own brakes.

I've got a "Service brakes" many times on the track when pounding on them hard with a Z07. Goes away when I back off some our let it sit for a while. My driving coach thinks its a heat issue I think he may be right. New set of pads going on soon before the next track event so will see if it was the sensors. This makes anyone nervous with these gold plated rotors that NOBODY wants to replace!
Glad to hear there is a "worn brakes" warning too.

Here are mine that we just changed after 12k and 5 or 6 track days on a big track. There are still 70% left I should of left them on and a few heat cracks. They would be handy as back ups for some ones CC brakes, back in the original box. We plan to change ours out at 50% wear to help save the rotors.
Drivers side, passenger side looked the same

I really thought there was only about 50% left and I had a customer wanting to buy them. Although their still sitting in the box!
I was getting a service brake light at the track every once in a while with the old ones and thought it may be a sensor issue.
I should put them on the parts sale section or may keep them as spares.

They replaced the brake control module. Didn't work.
I have to bring it back in on Monday. They will do more diagnostics with GM, but won't replace the pads at this time.
