I had a message left on my phone today from the dealer. It concerned bringing it in for the second free service. It only has 2,000 miles total and 6 months on the 500 mile free oil change so I'm not ready to bring it in yet for that. But he also said there are two recalls on it. One for a "performance timer missing" and also another recall about something with the heated or ventilated seats. It is a 2016 2lz coupe. I haven't received anything in the mail about recalls. Has anybody gotten anything on these things? I was having a little problem trying to decipher the message but thought maybe somebody on here has had some experience with these things. Thanks.
Not sure this is related, but I took my 2015 in to have the cool seats addressed as they weren't working consistently. Dealership told me there was a 'fix' to the central control for the seats. Have worked perfectly since. They said the factory was aware of this problem.
The recall on the heated seats is for A8 transmission 2016's with the remote start function. It reprograms the system so when you use those functions (cold morning and remote start) that the seats will heat up to a slightly higher temp setting than the system was originally set up, for. Now, at least to me, that says that the seats will only be "slightly warmer" then "cold". I have an M7 car (no remote start feature) and at the highest settings on these seats, they are barely warm. I'm actually tired of bitching about them not working properly (no one at GM is listening, anyway), but that's my only gripe about the car...I LOVE IT!
the early run 16's did not have a DIC 0-60 timer. Keep me posted about the heated / cooled seats. That's the first I have heard of that.
As per your oil change, probably just hit the time interval in their computer.
I got the recall about the seats but thats it. I have a 01/2016 build on my Z06 so I guess I need to check on the DIC recall. Thanks for the info guys!
Center Consold display problem with Performance Timer Update
I took my 2016 1LT in for a oil change the other day and the service rep told me that there was a "Performance Timer" recall issue. I told him to go ahead and update the software. I really didn't know what it was all about. Something about a timer that was missing.... The next day i went and switched Modes from Sport to Touring and the center display did not change... it stayed on the Sport display.... I tried to change to the Track mode and the display still did not change.... No matter which mode i switched to, the center display stayed in the Sport mode... I called the dealer and the Service rep did not know exactly what i was talking about.... so, I scheduled another appointment to have them look at it. Has anyone else had this problem?
I brought my 2015Z in for it's second oil change last week, only 3,200 miles, but 1 year since the 500 mile change out.
At the same time the ECM was updated and the Tech said there was like 10 updates. I didn't get a chance to talk to him before he left work to find out exactly what the up dates were for. He did mention a tachometer update.
The service department won't want to hook into your ECM unless you tell them you are having an issue with something. GM only reimburses them if they can write some type of problem on the work order. I'm sure a good service writer can be very creative.

Maybe GM handles it differently than other Manufacturers, I don't know. But Recalls are typically handled by serial number range (in this case VIN) and if you fall within the range, you automatically get it when you're in the shop. I guess you could refuse it, but can't imagine why.
