Thanks for sharing! Many of us have owned the 427. It's no joke. But come on guys! It's not going to overcome a well driven Z06. I am curious. Anyone heard of the Z28 cars dropping valves? I have to wonder if GM got it right finally. We Corvette owners are probably some of the hardest to please portion of car buyers. We all pay a premium price for a car GM calls it's "Flag Ship". Overall, the new Z06 is a hit in my opinion. It's not dropping valves or blowing up. There have been a few but it's going to happen. Some do overheat. I do believe that can be corrected. The A8 has a learning curve. It's not like the 350 or 400 turbo. The TCM decides way better then any human which gear and when. This may not make good sense to us. The car knows ahead of time what the rpm will be and torque before it determines a shift is required. Mine has been flawless. I feel so fortunate to have been blessed with the resources to have such an awesome car.

Nope they still drop the valves, the LS7 in the Z/28 aren't NEW LS7s they're left over crate engines from GMPP, and non ordered C6Zs. The difference is the Camaro community (at least for every gen prior to 5th gen. I don't really frequent the 5th gen side.), takes one look at stock laughs, throws whatever the garbage stock part is in the dumpster, warranty be damned and feeds the car steroids after.
So there's probably not many serious track rats with Z/28s that have the stock heads or valve train at least still in the car, if their side of the community is like the rest of the Camaro crowd.

In any case, if the car is not in Manual Mode it's good enough (in spite of the above comment).
Looks like that is being remedied with the new gen of Camaro.
Apparently, the upcoming Z28 is being tested at the Nurburgring now with a rumored LT4.
Here is the link to the 3,760 lb. drop-dead gorgeous 2017 ZL1:

The Z28 should be lighter...200 lbs. maybe?

In Auto Mode it is almost always right, but not every time (IMO).

I am sure it will be improved in many aspects. But it will take a lot to make almost 4000lbs with a driver do well on the track.
Will be an awesome street car.
It will say volumes when a 3200lb. 10 yr old car (C6Z) is still faster. Of course the C7Z will, and it should, ( it's the flagship) but think about how old the formula is for the C6Z??

The Camaro is a muscle car…for the most part. But there has always been the Trans am series. The newer Z28's are being promoted as a track car. As with some of the Drag cars made in the past, if making a track capable Camaro was the goal, and a cheaper alternative to the Zo6, then why not strip it out, and lighten it up and sell as a track car. They straddled the fence and wanted a dual purpose car, street and some track. Hard to do which is why it suffers as a track car from weight.
