Brakes locked up after washing or driving in the rain.
WTF????
Ok, so two weeks ago, I got stuck in the rain. Parked it in the garage and the next day when I went to back out of the garage, it wouldn't move. I had to give it has and it finally broke loose and lurched backwards. A few days ago, I washed the car and put it to bed. Next morning, same thing.
What gives?

Moisture makes brake pads "freeze" to the rotors due to surface corrosion, it is much more noticeable on vehicles with large brakes.
When possible heat up the brakes to dry them after washing or driving in heavy rain, lightly dragging them while driving a short distance is usually sufficient. After washing a leaf blower can be used.
Some vehicle have an automatic system which will lightly apply the brakes to help dry them during heavy rain conditions.

Good advice from Nissan. I always drive mine too after washing if I plan on setting the parking brake in the garage to put car away. In the same vein, you all probably know this, but avoid setting your parking brake when you come in from doing hot laps on track.

Same here. After I dry the car off I take it down the block and apply the brakes lightly to build up a little heat before parking it. I find that this also helps drain the water out of the door and body panels that are over the side skirts and I wipe those off one more time.
